The company is hiring a Technical Lead to help design, build, and modernize mission-critical federal software. The role suits a senior engineering leader with deep backend architecture skills, systems thinking, and experience building secure, scalable applications in complex enterprise settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build, and modernization of enterprise software that supports federal missions
• Own engineering work from architecture through deployment
• Build scalable, secure, maintainable backend applications following current engineering best practices
• Design and build APIs using REST and GraphQL
• Lead system design talks, architecture reviews, and technical decisions
• Work with product, architecture, DevSecOps, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Diagnose complex problems in applications, integrations, and system performance
• Contribute to cloud modernization, application refactoring, and platform engineering
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and set engineering standards
• Support secure delivery, code quality, test automation, and CI/CD integration
• Turn business and mission requirements into technical implementation plans

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience, including enterprise application development
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, OpenJDK, GraphQL, and REST APIs
• Experience designing distributed systems, microservices, integrations, and scalable enterprise applications
• Solid grasp of software architecture, system design, design patterns, and engineering best practices
• Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS or Azure
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control, and DevSecOps workflows
• Knowledge of secure development principles, API security, and application security best practices
• Experience troubleshooting production systems, tuning performance, and providing operational support
• Strong communication and technical leadership skills
• Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), event-driven architecture, or serverless platforms (nice to have)
• Familiarity with Zero Trust principles and secure systems integration (nice to have)
• Experience supporting federal government agencies (nice to have)
• Client requirement: applicants must be US citizens and able to obtain Public Trust clearance

Conditions

Estimated salary range of $120k, $170k per year. The final offer may depend on experience, skills, and other factors.
