Description

The company's Aeronautics Systems Research and Advanced Design group turns early ideas into mission-ready capabilities, acting as the front-end design group that defines what comes next.

The team covers advanced concept work from early-stage designs and rapid prototyping through demonstrations and hard technical problems in survivability, autonomy and battle management.

Work includes next-generation future aircraft and collaborative autonomous platforms.

This is a Staff Systems Test Engineer role focused on Autonomous Collaborative Platforms (ACP) as the program Test Lead, working as an individual contributor with no direct reports.

The role is onsite in El Segundo, CA or Rancho Bernardo, CA.

  • Track the status of test requirements, manage schedules and write reports.
  • Identify test and program risks, issues and pressures, then build mitigation and closure plans.
  • Coordinate ground test engineering and operations, aircraft changes needed for testing, and frequent work with engineering teams at Rancho Bernardo, Space Park, El Segundo and Mojave.
  • Keep cost and schedule targets on track.
  • Lead the program's test site staff and forecast resource needs to program management in good time, so the Test Statement of Work is staffed.
  • Orchestrate lab, ground and flight integration and developmental testing across the full test program, including staffing, planning, execution and reporting for both lab and flight test.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline plus 12 years of related professional or military experience, or a Master of Science in a STEM discipline plus 10 years of related experience, or a STEM Ph.D. plus 8 years of related experience.
  • Hold an active US Government Secret clearance or higher, with a background investigation in the past 6 years or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation.
  • Be able to obtain and keep Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a time frame set by business needs.
  • Understand how program risk, opportunity and issue management works.
  • Communicate well, have led test engineering staff, and work effectively in a matrix setup that takes direction from several managers.
  • Bring a self-starting, highly motivated approach backed by relevant test operations experience.
  • Preferred: Current, active Top Secret clearance.
  • Preferred: Experience leading a system test team in a fast-changing environment.
  • Preferred: Strong organizational, written, project planning and presentation skills.
  • Preferred: Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Preferred: A track record of building trusted working relationships.
