Description

This is a staff-level technical program management role at an engineering firm with more than 3,000 engineers across North America. The firm is part of a global group of over 57,000 engineers in 30 countries and supports clients across the full product development cycle, from consulting to full project outsourcing.

Clients span aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, commercial vehicles, EVs, rail and other sectors, and the work ranges from space exploration and life-saving medical devices to autonomous electric vehicles.

You would lead program execution for the infotainment software organization, covering Android Automotive OS (AAOS) framework, projection, applications and certification for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The role is the main program-level contact between engineering, product, validation, suppliers and external certification partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead CarPlay and Android Auto certification readiness, covering test planning, requirement traceability, defect triage, exception handling, partner communication and submission packages.
  • Build and maintain integrated execution plans for the AAOS framework, middleware, system apps, projection stack, validation and certification deliverables.
  • Track and coordinate dependencies between framework services, vehicle HAL and VHAL interfaces, projection, app lifecycle, UX and HMI integration teams.
  • Lead triage and recovery plans for defects that affect AAOS stability, app behavior, projection connectivity, Bluetooth, media routing, certification pass rates or the customer-facing infotainment experience.
  • Align the company's engineering, validation and supplier teams with certification stakeholders to close compliance gaps and platform integration problems.
  • Run framework, app, projection, certification and release readiness workstreams in parallel, and help engineers prioritize critical path work.
  • Report status, risks, dependencies and escalations to technical and executive audiences, turning complex software and certification issues into clear plans.
  • Improve delivery practices, certification tracking, documentation, dashboards and cross-team operating rhythms for the infotainment software organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or a related technical field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in software program, product, release or technical program management.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Android, embedded Linux, infotainment, mobile projection, connected devices or automotive software programs.
  • Preferred: a master's degree (M.S.) in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or a related technical field.
  • Preferred: experience with AAOS, Android framework services, system applications, AOSP development, HAL/VHAL integration or platform middleware.
  • Preferred: experience delivering Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto programs, including certification planning, test execution, bug triage, exception handling and reviewer communication.
  • Preferred: working knowledge of infotainment areas such as Android Framework, media, audio routing, projection, app lifecycle, HMI/UX integration and vehicle signal interfaces.
  • Preferred: experience with Jira, Jama, Confluence, test management systems and release dashboards for cross-functional software work.
  • Preferred: experience negotiating technical scope, schedules and tradeoffs with suppliers, platform partners, validation teams and certification stakeholders.
  • Preferred: experience in automotive infotainment, embedded software, consumer electronics, mobile device ecosystems or software-defined vehicle platforms.
  • Preferred: PMP, Scrum Master, Agile or an equivalent program delivery certification.

Salary is $140,000 - 155,000.
