Staff Software Engineer

Description

The team builds and improves platforms and services used by millions of customers, associates and business partners.

You will mostly build software yourself, tackling hard technical problems and shipping solutions that are scalable, secure and reliable.

You will work closely with managers, engineering leaders and partners from other functions to create resilient, high-performing systems.

The team gives weight to technical leadership, architecture guidance and sound engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and rollout of scalable software that meets business goals.
• Work with cross-functional teams to define, design and ship new features with high-quality, efficient code.
• Mentor engineers and shape architectural decisions.
• Help set the technology roadmap and keep systems robust and maintainable, improving customer experience and operational efficiency.
• Review code from peers to keep quality and consistency high.
• Write clean, well-documented code that follows best practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug and tune existing software for speed and reliability.
• Help improve development processes and tooling.
• Keep up with new technologies that could make the software better.

Requirements

• Extensive software engineering experience and a solid grounding in computer science.
• Proficiency in several programming languages and software frameworks.
• A track record of designing, building and maintaining scalable, high-quality software.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on efficient, dependable code.
• Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams in an agile setting.
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, testing methods and version control.
• Clear, concise communication of technical ideas.
• Minimum qualifications, either: a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering or a related area plus 4 years of software engineering or related experience; or 6 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Preferred, not required: a master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering or a related area plus 2 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Preferred, not required: knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies and building accessible digital experiences, following the company's accessibility standards and guidelines.
