Description

You will join the Global eCommerce Software Engineering team as a Staff Software Engineer, helping shape the technical direction of a global business with $7 billion in revenue that connects patients and healthcare professionals with medicines and vaccines.

The role sits in the Digital Global eCommerce and Vaccines organization, where you work between business and technology with cross-functional teams to improve how patients get the company's medicines worldwide. You report to the Head of Software Engineering, eCommerce, and set the technical standard for the work from customer onboarding through to shipment delivery.

The company is a global biopharmaceutical business operating in some 100 countries, focused on human health and vaccine protection.

Responsibilities

  • Set technical strategy across several teams and domains, and design scalable, resilient architectures for global eCommerce platforms, from customer-facing features to back-end operations.
  • Make the key technical calls, weighing engineering quality against practical delivery so solutions ship on schedule.
  • Promote good practice in cloud-native development, microservices, APIs, CI/CD, DevOps and cybersecurity across the organization.
  • Coach senior engineers and help them grow, encouraging knowledge sharing, psychological safety and ongoing improvement.
  • Connect engineering with product and business teams so the technical direction supports company goals and benefits patients.
  • Speak for engineering with external partners and vendors, and argue for sound technical standards.

Requirements

  • A proven record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring senior engineers in quick-moving, innovative settings.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript with Node.js, React or an equivalent framework, and an object-oriented language such as Java, Python or C++.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP or Azure), Infrastructure as Code, microservices, API design, CI/CD, observability tools such as DataDog, and automated testing.
  • Strong written and spoken communication, and the ability to lead collaboratively and influence both peers and senior leadership.
  • A growth mindset and genuine interest in innovation and learning.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.

Conditions

Location: Barcelona, Spain, in a hybrid setup at the Barcelona hub.

The salary range for this role is €69,200 to €103,800.

Final pay depends on your experience, skills, location and other relevant factors.

The company provides equal opportunities regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, ability or gender identity.

Benefits

  • You may be eligible to join the company's employee benefit programs.
