Description

The team is the AI/ML Platform team, and the role is needed to fill an open position.

The team builds the core AI/ML capabilities and shared platform tooling behind intelligent engagement features across the company.

You will shape the design of the company-wide ML/AI Ops foundation, requiring offline and online evals for every AI capability to keep quality very high.

The company is remote-first, and the team is spread across locations.

The company uses AI to help screen applications, but people make every hiring decision.

Responsibilities

  • Research and implement cutting-edge LLM inference and orchestration methods.
  • Find where small language models can be fine-tuned or distilled to fit a use case.
  • Build ML systems that work at the company scale.
  • Set standards and tooling for evaluating a range of AI/ML capabilities.
  • Pick up new technical skills and knowledge quickly in a fast-moving, high-delivery environment.
  • Adopt the latest AI development stacks to avoid repeated boilerplate work and focus on what sets the company apart.
  • Improve how LLM workloads are managed across the company.
  • Make data easy to access for AI/ML exploration and product work while keeping it compliant.
  • Bridge theory, production experimentation and enterprise-grade software.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of applied ML/AI experience, including owning technically ambitious systems end to end rather than working within someone else's design.
  • Comfortable working in 0-to-1 settings with unclear requirements, and biased toward action.
  • Proficient in Python.
  • Experience building cloud services on AWS, GCP or Azure, including high-volume data, streaming or real-time inference paths, and several data stores.
  • Solid grounding in statistical machine learning, transformer models and LLMs.
  • Extensive experience with ML Ops and LLM Ops, including designing rigorous evaluation metrics for non-deterministic AI features at scale.
  • Strong communicator who collaborates well with teammates.
  • Familiar with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Codex, GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
  • Desired: prior experience building evals for autonomous agents and large language models.
  • Desired: prior experience building autonomous agents that handle multi-turn conversations and keep long-term context and consistency.
  • Desired: prior experience working in a globally distributed team.
  • Desired: evidence of technical leadership or impact, such as open-source data/ML contributions or published talks, blog posts, papers or research.
  • The company welcomes people from all kinds of industries and non-traditional backgrounds who meet the required qualifications.

Conditions

This role is remote and based in Ontario, British Columbia or Alberta, Canada.

You may occasionally be asked to travel to project or team meetings in person.

Equal opportunity: hiring decisions are made without regard to protected characteristics.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay, generous time off, ample parental and wellness leave, healthcare and a retirement savings program. Offerings vary by location.
  • Depending on the role, you may also be eligible for incentive programs, commissions, equity grants, health and wellness benefits, retirement contributions and paid time off.
  • Estimated pay range: $160,320 to $200,400, with a target bonus of 12.5%.
  • Starting salary depends on lawful factors such as skills, experience and geographic location.
  • The company supports employees who volunteer or donate to community causes.
  • Watch for recruitment fraud: the company never asks for payment, gift cards, cryptocurrency or banking details, and always uses an official company email address and a formal interview process.
