The company builds delivery software that started with restaurant food in 2014 and now covers almost anything, across more than 500 cities in 30 countries. It joined DoorDash in 2022.

The work is demanding and fast, with a lot of learning and shipping. It suits self-starters with drive and an entrepreneurial streak.

The Infrastructure teams provide the compute, cloud, and networking base that engineers at Wolt, Deliveroo, and DoorDash build on, so they can develop, deploy, and run services at global scale. The EU Compute team focuses on provisioning, scaling, and running GPU infrastructure for AI and ML workloads. It is a new area with much to build from scratch.

The team is hiring a Staff Engineer to lead hands-on technical work on this infrastructure across team and brand boundaries. You will set platform direction, turn hard problems into plans people can deliver, write and review production code, and guide other engineers' decisions. The choices made now will shape how engineers across the company ship for years.

The role covers some of the hardest infrastructure problems in the company. The goal is a platform that is easier to run and safer to build on, with strong platform products and user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for shared AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure, weighing reliability, security, developer experience, and cost.
• Lead large initiatives from design through rollout and operation, coordinating dependencies and decisions across Wolt, Deliveroo, and DoorDash, with a focus on GPU workloads.
• Develop Kubernetes clusters, cloud networking, identity, and infrastructure provisioning to handle growing and varied workloads.
• Build reusable Terraform patterns and self-service tools so teams can provision infrastructure safely and consistently.
• Improve deployment and operations, including GitOps, observability, capacity planning, and incident response and recovery.
• Use production data and developer feedback to find platform friction, decide where to invest, and check whether changes help.
• Support the platform with deep attention to GPU infrastructure and broader attention to compute in general.
• Retire legacy infrastructure and tooling in an orderly way, and plan ways to cut recurring manual work.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, implementation, and incidents, raising infrastructure quality across teams.

Requirements

• Deep experience building and running Kubernetes and AWS infrastructure in production.
• Experience with GPU workloads and orchestration is a plus.
• Strong software engineering skills, with Go, Python, or a similar language used to build maintainable tools and automation.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform, and with designing systems that other engineering teams rely on.
• A record of leading complex technical work across teams, including architecture decisions, delivery, and operational follow-through. You can design across team and domain boundaries and still contribute hands-on.
• Sound judgment on trade-offs in distributed systems, networking, security, reliability, and cloud cost.
• Clear communication and the ability to align people around a practical technical direction.
