Description

The company builds high-mobility spacecraft platforms that support national security, civil and commercial missions, and it moves quickly, shipping new iterations often.

The team needs an engineer to build and maintain automated testing that checks the reliability, function and performance of its next-generation spacecraft flight software.

You will work with flight software, systems engineering, and integration and test teams on SIL, HIL and flight-representative test setups.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automated integration, verification and regression testing for spacecraft flight software.
  • Write and run requirements-based test cases and automated test scripts that confirm flight software function and performance.
  • Create and extend automated test frameworks in Python, C/C++ or similar languages.
  • Test spacecraft command and telemetry handling, mode management, fault management and other critical flight functions.
  • Run software tests in SIL, HIL and flight-representative environments.
  • Work with flight software developers, systems engineers and integration and test teams to find defects, troubleshoot problems and support root-cause analysis.
  • Keep regression suites current so that software changes do not break existing behavior.
  • Add automated testing to CI/CD pipelines to raise quality and speed up development.
  • Analyze test results, log defects and produce verification reports that show software readiness and requirements compliance.
  • Help maintain test environments, simulation tools and test infrastructure.
  • Join technical reviews and help improve verification processes, automation tools and configuration management.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, software or computer engineering, electrical or aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years in software development, software testing, test automation or a related engineering role.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++ or equivalent languages.
  • Experience writing automated test scripts, test frameworks or software verification tools.
  • Experience testing embedded, real-time or complex software applications.
  • Working knowledge of software integration, verification, validation and regression testing.
  • Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD and software configuration management.
  • Experience debugging, troubleshooting and tracking defects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to work well in a collaborative engineering setting.
  • Nice to have: experience with spacecraft flight software, satellite systems, avionics or other mission-critical embedded software.
  • Nice to have: knowledge of spacecraft flight software architectures, command and telemetry processing, mode management, and fault detection and recovery.
  • Nice to have: hands-on work with SIL and HIL test environments.
  • Nice to have: experience building automated test frameworks with Python, pytest or similar tools.
  • Nice to have: experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded Linux or similar environments.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with spacecraft simulation tools, ground support equipment or flight-representative test environments.
  • Nice to have: experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions.
  • Nice to have: experience with Git, JIRA or similar development and configuration management tools.
  • Nice to have: understanding of requirements traceability, test coverage analysis and verification and validation (V&V) processes.
  • Nice to have: experience supporting spacecraft integration and testing, software qualification or mission readiness work.
