Software Platform Engineer, EU Traffic

Description

The company is the company, now part of DoorDash, and the team is building a single shared traffic platform for DoorDash, the company and Wolt. The goal is a 24x7, no-downtime global infrastructure that moves orders for consumers, merchants and riders.

The EU Traffic team is based in London and owns the path every request takes into the platform. That covers the edge, where Cloudflare handles CDN, DNS, rate limiting and bot mitigation along with external ingress, and service-to-service communication, where the team runs the service mesh and the authentication between thousands of services across several regions.

You will report to the Engineering Manager of the EU Traffic team, within the Infrastructure organisation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Cloudflare edge configuration, managed as code.
• Build and run service-to-service authentication and authorisation, including workload identity and token issuance and validation at the mesh layer.
• Design and build large-scale distributed systems with high request rates and tight latency needs.
• Troubleshoot and fix production issues while keeping SLAs intact.
• Work with platform and product engineers to deliver feature requests and resolve their problems.
• Improve team productivity and operations through automation, AI tooling and similar methods.
• Take part in the shared on-call rotation and lead production investigations and incidents with support from teammates.
• Mentor teammates and learn from them through design reviews, pairing and incident reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years as a software engineer in infrastructure, networking, or platform engineering or SRE.
• Experience running edge technology at scale, such as CDN, WAF, proxy layers and DNS.
• Solid grasp of networking basics: TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTP/2, gRPC and load balancing.
• Experience debugging high-QPS or latency-sensitive systems.
• Curious and collaborative, and comfortable making progress when things are unclear.
• Work AI-first, delegating to and orchestrating coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor across design, implementation, testing, incident response and releases.
