This co-op joins the team building motion control and detector subsystems for molecular imaging cameras, working alongside firmware and electrical engineers.

The role suits a motivated student who wants to build skills and gain hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Take part in embedded systems work across requirements, design, coding, testing and documentation for the motion control and detector subsystems of molecular imaging cameras.
• Help build safety-critical motion features and the safeguards that prevent accidents across multiple axes of motion.
• Write and test embedded software in C/C++, run written test procedures, record results, and spot and isolate system anomalies.
• Support the system host emulator and help load software onto lab systems.
• Help resolve issues raised by the Defect Handling Board.
• You may also be asked to help with some administrative tasks.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering or a similar field.
• Preferred: heading into your junior or senior year.
• A GPA of at least 3.0 is preferred.
• Registered and eligible to take part in a co-op through your university.
• Familiarity with C, C++ and Python, Agile development processes, and hands-on work with electronic circuitry and cabling.

Conditions

Duration is usually one academic term off plus summer (January to August or May to December), or a longer co-op with rotations between school and work, with some flexibility in specific scheduling.

Start date is flexible and depends on your availability and academic calendar.

The job is based in Hoffman Estates, IL.

Starting pay falls within a base range of $54,912 to $80,538, depending on factors such as location, skills, education, experience and other qualifications.

Commission eligibility, if the position qualifies, follows the company plan and is based on individual and/or company performance.

A successful candidate must be able to work with controlled technology under US export control law, and the company complies with EAR, ITAR and OFAC rules.
