The company designs vehicles and mobility experiences through human-centered design and advanced engineering, with a focus on safety, intelligence and connectivity at scale.
The team is hiring a CAD developer with strong coding skills to push forward generative AI work in CAD development, criteria compliance and fast response to shifts in portfolio and program plans.
The best fit pairs solid Siemens NX designcenter and virtual vehicle integration skills with hands-on CAD automation and NXOpen development.
You will build tools that release high-quality, manufacturable math designs, plus modeling tools, workflows and data integrations that raise design productivity and digital engineering output.
You are detail-oriented, understand automotive product development, parametric modeling, manufacturability and downstream needs, and can turn design and manufacturing requirements into dependable automation.
Success means accurate, timely releases, sound integration of component and subsystem designs, and automation that is usable and maintainable. The work balances hands-on design judgment, disciplined software development and ongoing collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Build virtual vehicle integration solutions that match program requirements, design principles and the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP).
Create, refine, check and release NX math modeling and criteria tools using standard parametric methods, design standards, best practices and global engineering requirements.
Bring design for manufacturability, assembly and serviceability, materials, GD&T and integration into component and subsystem work.
Ship accurate data releases on schedule, and flag timing, risks and technical problems early.
Write NXOpen applications, scripts and process automation that improve design quality, consistency and productivity.
Encode engineering rules, algorithms, constraints, DFM requirements and best practices into NX tools and workflows.
Build custom NX interfaces with NXOpen UIStyler, Block UI and Reuse Library dialogs, with clear input handling and business logic.
Develop and maintain NX and Teamcenter PLM integrations, including data exchange and links to manufacturing or external sources.
Work with designers, R&D, manufacturing, deployment and sustain teams to prototype, validate, stabilize and scale tools for enterprise use.
Keep code repositories, version control, technical documentation and developer standards for automation current.
Apply unit testing, code review, defect resolution and maintainable design.
Requirements
Equivalent experience is accepted in place of a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, engineering, computer science or a closely related field.
Professional experience applying Siemens NX to production design, CAD modeling, virtual integration or similar engineering work.
Experience with Teamcenter and VisMockup or comparable CAD/PLM systems.
Hands-on work with the NXOpen API and C.
A track record building CAD automation, process automation frameworks or engineering productivity tools.
Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, GD&T basics and design for manufacturability, assembly and serviceability.
Experience handling NX and Teamcenter PLM data, external data sources and collaborative engineering workflows.
Skill building custom NX user interfaces with clean input handling and business logic.
Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Comfort adapting to iterative feedback and shifting program or user needs.
Preferred: 5+ years of software development, IT, CAD automation or combined NX design and automation experience.
Preferred: familiarity with parametric design techniques and principles, and manipulating parametric templates through coded or agentic solutions.
Preferred: experience designing complex mechanical components or subsystems for automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
Preferred: experience writing unit tests and keeping strong code coverage.
Preferred: understanding of how downstream users and systems use NX models, datasets and released product data.
Preferred: experience with Teamcenter ITK/RAC customization, dataset structures, CAD integration pipelines or manufacturing system interfaces.
Preferred: familiarity with GitHub, Jira, GPDL tools, Knowledge Fusion or legacy NX automation tools.
Preferred: exposure to CAE or analysis workflows, AI-assisted coding or digital engineering data pipelines.
Preferred: master's degree in engineering, computer science or a related discipline.
