Description

The IP Infrastructure team builds and runs the systems that let the company share research and engineering technology with strategic partners, securely and reliably.

The team works with research, security, developer infrastructure, and partner engineering groups to turn complicated requirements into software that holds up. It is a small group with direct ownership of systems behind key partnerships.

This role focuses on the backend services behind these workflows. You will mostly write Python and take work from design through to production, making the systems more dependable and simpler to run as partner integrations change.

The job mixes hands-on building with careful judgment. You will turn rules about what can be shared into clear, testable logic, track down issues that cross system boundaries, and work with the teams who build and use the underlying infrastructure.

The role is in San Francisco, CA, on a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automated pipelines that move model weights, configurations, code, and container images between the company and partner environments.
  • Write the validation and business logic that decides how artifacts are prepared and shared.
  • Make production more reliable through tests, monitoring, useful diagnostics, and failure handling that holds up.
  • Connect services to source control, object storage, and build and container tools, working with the owners of shared infrastructure.
  • Work with researchers, security teams, and external engineers to pin down requirements and fix integration problems.
  • Improve existing workflows, and apply AI tools where they make the systems you build more effective.

Requirements

  • Strong Python skills and experience building, testing, and debugging backend software.
  • Experience taking a service, pipeline, or automation project into production and keeping it reliable.
  • Enjoy tracing how systems connect and following problems across services and their dependencies.
  • Able to turn unclear requirements into practical software, and to use sound judgment with sensitive information.
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues, and enjoy working alongside partner engineering teams.
  • Pick up unfamiliar systems quickly, and see problems through to resolution.
  • Helpful but not required: experience with cloud services, object storage, containers, or CI/CD. The work uses tools such as Docker, Bazel, and Buildkite. You do not need prior expertise in every tool or in a specific cloud provider.

Conditions

Based in San Francisco, CA, hybrid with 3 days per week in the office.
