Description

The company is building the largest swarming UAV and the most versatile swarming aircraft network in the world, and is working quickly toward its first aircraft designed specifically for swarming.

It is also building the command and control software that lets a human operator direct swarms of thousands of mixed autonomous assets.

The team has founded and exited several startups, closed defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft. Members have worked at Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin and Boom Supersonic.

The platform lets one operator plan, direct and carry out missions across a networked mix of aircraft in real time, even when communications are spotty, at a scale no one else in the industry is attempting.

The hard problems include keeping distributed state consistent on unreliable networks, handling fast-moving telemetry at high density, and designing interfaces for a field with little precedent. You will work across the stack, wherever the hardest problem sits that week.

You would be among the earliest engineers shaping how people command autonomous systems at scale, a problem a small team is still defining, with a real hand in the architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship features in the command and control system that directs heterogeneous aircraft swarms.
  • Build services that keep state and stay responsive when communications degrade or fail completely.
  • Work on both the interface and the backend services, moving to whichever one the problem needs.
  • Prototype new ways to model and control vehicle telemetry, sensor data and scheduling.
  • Own features from a rough problem statement through design, implementation and deployment.
  • Release early and often, supported by solid CI/CD, QA and DevSecOps practices.

Requirements

  • Hold a degree in computer science or a related technical field, or have equivalent self-taught depth.
  • Have a strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, networking and systems.
  • Show something hard you built on your own initiative, such as a renderer, emulator, game, compiler, multiplayer server, robotics project or significant open source contribution. Past employers matter less than your work.
  • Write code comfortably at more than one layer of the stack, without needing to stay in one.
  • Be willing to tackle problems without known answers, and to be publicly wrong while finding them.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Conditions

To comply with U.S. export regulations, you must be a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident, a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Benefits

  • Meaningful equity in a fast-growing defense technology company.
  • Competitive base salary based on experience.
  • Medical, dental, vision and 401k.
  • PTO and paid sick leave.
  • Monthly wellness stipend.
  • Daily catered lunch in the office.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Work with a direct impact on a critical national security mission.
  • Join a world-class team of engineers and operators working on genuinely hard problems.
