Description

The company builds the largest swarming UAV and a versatile network of swarming aircraft. It is moving quickly to launch its first aircraft designed for swarming, along with command and control software that lets a small number of operators direct swarms of thousands of mixed autonomous vehicles.

The team has founded and sold several startups, closed defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built more than 30 new aircraft. Members have worked at Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic.

This role is on the team building the company's command and control platform. The platform lets one operator plan, direct, and run missions across a networked swarm of mixed aircraft in real time, even with unreliable communications, at a scale few others attempt.

The work is building new capabilities, not maintaining a finished product. The problem has little precedent, so you will help set the architecture and core technical patterns. Areas include real-time distributed systems, dense telemetry visualization, shared mission planning, and operator interfaces where clarity and reliability affect mission results.

You will have real say in what gets built, how it is built, and how the platform changes as the team and system grow.

Responsibilities

  • Help design and build the full stack of a command and control system for large swarms of mixed aircraft
  • Define the core systems, technical patterns, and interfaces the platform will rely on as it grows
  • Build real-time shared infrastructure so operators can control many aircraft at once, including when communications degrade or drop
  • Design new ways to show and interact with telemetry, sensor data, mission schedules, crew resources, data links, and other complicated operational information
  • Turn unclear operational problems into working, deployed capabilities, often without a prior approach to copy
  • Own major features from system design and architecture through implementation, testing, and deployment
  • Work with operators, designers, and engineers across software, autonomy, and aircraft systems
  • Release early and iterate fast, with support from mature CI/CD, QA, and DevSecOps practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years building complex full stack applications, with substantial frontend and backend work
  • Strong UI and UX judgment, with the skills to act on it
  • Experience building production web interfaces with React or a similar modern framework
  • Sets you apart: experience with both immediate mode (games, simulation) and retained mode UI paradigms
  • Sets you apart: a record of building performance-sensitive applications
  • Sets you apart: familiarity with video streaming protocols
  • Sets you apart: WebGL or OpenGL experience
  • Sets you apart: experience with geospatial applications
