Description

The opportunity

Join Adobe's Real-Time Customer Data Platform (RTCDP) organization and help businesses unify and activate customer data across channels. As an RTCDP Software Engineer, you will combine software engineering, analytical problem solving, and a customer-focused mindset to improve platform reliability and customer outcomes.

You will investigate complex platform and customer issues, develop internal tools and automation, and collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Support to turn recurring challenges into lasting improvements. You will use AI-assisted development thoughtfully, maintaining ownership of the quality, correctness, and reliability of your work.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve complex RTCDP product and customer issues, identifying root causes and working with engineering teams on durable solutions.
  • Understand end-to-end RTCDP business flows and develop tools, scripts, and automation that improve diagnostics, observability, and issue prevention.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Support to prioritize customer-impacting problems and translate recurring issues into product improvements.
  • Develop and maintain reliable software and integrations, applying sound engineering practices to implementation, testing, debugging, and code review.
  • Provide technical guidance on platform capabilities and implementation decisions, explaining complex topics clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Document investigation findings and reusable solutions, and share knowledge that improves team effectiveness.
  • Use approved AI-assisted development tools to support implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and code review; validate generated outputs and retain responsibility for engineering decisions.
  • Evaluate where AI-assisted workflows add value, recognize their limitations, and apply appropriate human review and safeguards for sensitive information.
  • What you need to succeed
  • Software engineering and platform skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of software development experience, including work on complex applications or platforms.
  • Strong programming experience in Java and/or Python.
  • Experience with SQL, NoSQL technologies, and data modeling.
  • Experience with big-data technologies and analytical workflows, including Apache Spark and Jupyter or Databricks notebooks.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, OAuth, and system integrations.
  • Familiarity with cloud and distributed systems, including AWS and/or Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience using logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk or ELK, Prometheus, and Grafana to investigate platform behavior.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect technical findings to customer and business impact.
  • Clear communication and effective cross-functional collaboration, including the ability to explain technical issues to different audiences.
  • A proactive approach to ownership, continuous learning, and understanding enterprise products.
  • AI-assisted engineering skills
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted software development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or equivalent, to write, test, and debug code within established engineering standards.
  • Ability to provide clear instructions and relevant context to AI tools, review and test generated code, and recognize incorrect, incomplete, or unsupported outputs.
  • Ability to explain your own reasoning and engineering decisions, using AI as a supporting tool rather than a substitute for technical understanding.
  • Ability to evaluate the benefits and limitations of AI tools in real engineering workflows and describe how they improve productivity or quality.
  • Responsible use of AI tools, including appropriate treatment of confidential information, customer data, privacy, and security, in accordance with applicable Adobe policies and tool approvals.
