Software Development Engineer

Description

The Trust and Safety Engineering team builds AI and ML systems that protect the company users from abuse and harm across the platform, with the goal of making experiences safer and more trustworthy.

You would work with experienced researchers and engineers to turn new research into scalable systems, where your work has a direct effect on user safety. The team is a collaborative group that works with rigor and a focus on real-world impact.

This is a hybrid role that requires you to be on-site 4 days per week at the San Jose, CA office. Remote work is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and improve AI and ML algorithms and solutions for Trust and Safety problems.
• Work with cross-functional teams to turn research into scalable engineering solutions that support business goals.
• Take part in code reviews, design discussions, and technical presentations to keep engineering solutions high in quality and reliability.
• Find weaknesses in existing systems and propose new approaches that improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Keep up with AI and ML research and engineering advances and apply them to strengthen the team's technical skills.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience, with a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Python or another relevant programming language.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning models, with a solid grasp of ML concepts, algorithms, and techniques. Natural language processing (NLP) experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar.
• Clear interest in AI shown through academic or personal projects, and real curiosity about where the field is going.
• Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and explain technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Conditions

Base pay range: $137,700.00 - $275,400.00.

Total direct compensation considers base salary, bonus, and equity value, in addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed.

Starting pay depends on several factors, including qualifications and experience.

Pay ranges may vary by location.
