Description

The company is a global technology firm in payments, operating in more than 200 countries and territories, with a focus on secure, simple, smart and accessible transactions.

The Gateway Platforms SRE team is hiring a Senior Engineer to lead production readiness for the platform, working closely with developers to design, build, launch and support technology services.

The role leads the DevOps transformation through tooling and advocacy for change and standards across development, quality, release and product groups.

The work centers on daily operations, with strong emphasis on triage and root cause analysis, and on aligning product and customer priorities with operational needs.

The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, motivated and entrepreneurial, with a passion for the customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Take part in every stage of a service's life, from design and inception through deployment, operations and refinement.
  • Review ITSM activity on the platform and send operational gaps and resiliency concerns back to development teams.
  • Support services before launch through system design consulting, capacity planning and launch reviews.
  • Monitor availability, latency and overall system health for live services.
  • Scale systems through automation and push for changes that improve reliability and delivery speed.
  • Support the CI/CD pipeline that promotes software into higher environments, using validation and operational gates, and lead DevOps automation and best practices across the company.
  • Run incident response in a sustainable way and hold blameless postmortems.
  • Trace problems across the full technology stack during production events to reduce mean time to recover.
  • Work with a global team spread across several geographies and time zones.
  • Share knowledge and mentor junior team members.
  • Build and maintain automation pipelines for certificate renewal, traffic routing, alerting and compliance reporting, using tools such as Ansible and Venafi.
  • Improve ITSM and DQ SLOs, including timely CRQ status updates and incident closure.
  • Lead quarterly EPICs for Safety & Soundness and Operational Excellence, covering PCI compliance, threat and toil management, self-healing and ITSM defect resolution.

Requirements

  • Experience in operational resiliency and self-healing systems.
  • Understanding of two-factor authentication.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of, and hands-on experience with, NGINX configuration.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Active Directory (users and groups), SAML, LTPA, SSO and OAuth.
  • Understanding of DevOps tools such as Chef, Jenkins, Groovy, shell scripting, Bitbucket and Git.
  • Experience building automation workflows and/or developing scripts.
  • Understanding of client-server relationships, network concepts from Layer 1 to Layer 3, and stack trace analysis (TCP dumps, heap dumps, CPU and memory analysis, thread dumps).
  • Understanding of load balancers, application firewalls, operating systems, logging and monitoring methods and tools, high availability and business continuity planning, caching, and configuration management.
  • Awareness of security implementations, the certificate management lifecycle, mutual TLS, SSL handshake, SSH keys, and symmetric and asymmetric encryption.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure and secure access practices.
  • Familiarity with ITSM processes, compliance frameworks and incident management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.

Conditions

Everyone working for or on behalf of the company is responsible for information security and must follow security policies, protect the confidentiality and integrity of information they access, report suspected violations or breaches, and complete mandatory security training on schedule.
