Description

The role supports both external customers and internal HydraForce departments with technical and applications advice, working alongside field-based staff and internal teams to get accurate information and advice to the people who need it. You will also own application projects and lead the project management of new product development.

The company designs and manufactures motion control systems in Birmingham, UK, and is a global leader in hydraulic cartridge valves, custom hydraulic integrated circuits and electronic controls for off-highway industries. It is part of Bosch Rexroth, bringing together two hydraulic motion control businesses.

The role is permanent. The start date can be agreed around your needs, and you take on responsibility from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Review, advise on and process customer requests for new system designs and product development.
  • Support Regional Sales Managers with customer-facing work.
  • Build full cost breakdowns to support accurate sales quotations.
  • Manage development projects from concept through to end of life, either independently or alongside Application Engineers.

  • Take part in high-level technical discussions at customer sites.
  • Integrate electro-hydraulic control systems with OEM-specific requirements.
  • Monitor OEM customer websites to identify and accurately support project requirements and opportunities, using company resources as needed.
  • Help the production departments write test control plans.
  • Attend overseas sales exhibitions when required.
  • Deliver on-site training on HydraForce hydraulic and software products.
  • Support warranty returns.
  • Provide support, training and mentoring to internal and external customers.
  • Identify, interpret and apply ISO and customer specifications.
  • Support the Quality Department in meeting customer PPAP requirements.
  • Generate Temporary Deviation Requests (TDRs) for valves and/or manifolds.
  • Follow Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) procedures.
  • Verify and submit Preproduction Prototype Development (PPD) documents for new products from Application Engineers.
  • Help develop the Technical Support Engineering team, and advise, mentor and train undergraduate placement students and apprentices.

Requirements

  • An engineering degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience with off-highway, construction, agricultural and/or industrial hydraulic systems.
  • Technical knowledge at Applications Engineer level or above.
  • A record of managing application projects with full ownership.
  • Confident with Microsoft software and experienced with MRP systems.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is essential.
