Senior Staff AI Engineer – Finance

Description

The company has spent more than 25 years working on computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing, and now applies AI to the next generation of computing, where its GPUs serve as the processing core for computers, robots, and self-driving cars.

The Finance AI team is hiring a Senior Staff AI Engineer to design, build, evaluate, and run the AI applications, agents, and automation Finance depends on.

The role is mainly applied engineering on top of foundation models, with room to find cases where customized Nemotron models outperform prompting and retrieval.

You will manage your own group of coding agents, bring in new tools and technologies, and use your knowledge of the business to match the right technology to each problem.

Responsibilities

• Own agentic systems from start to finish, beginning with defining the problem alongside finance partners and continuing through the evaluation harness, retrieval quality, and cost needed to keep them dependable in production.
• Define the architecture, shared building blocks, patterns, and quality standards that other engineers rely on, while mentoring engineers and speaking for AI engineering to Finance and the company leadership.
• Keep up with applied AI by testing new models, agent frameworks, retrieval methods, and tools as they appear, running hands-on experiments, and turning the results into clear decisions on whether to build.
• Work with the model team to adopt, fine-tune, and post-train the company's Nemotron models for finance use cases.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years building and running production systems, including 3+ years working with LLM and agent systems.
• A record as a core technical contributor who has shipped several LLM-powered applications or agents and kept them running in production.
• Hands-on experience with skill-based workflows, harnesses, and agent orchestration frameworks.
• Advanced retrieval skills and deep, practical experience designing evaluations and observability for LLM systems.
• Strong Python and solid engineering fundamentals, extensive experience with agentic and adversarial software engineering, understanding of LLM security and safety risks, and practical knowledge of networks and operating systems.
• Nice to have: ability to align engineers and business leaders on difficult decisions and set direction across teams you do not manage.
• Nice to have: experience with the company's applied AI stack, and recognized applied AI work such as conference talks, open-source contributions, or published research.
• Nice to have: experience at a large technology company and / or in finance-adjacent work.
• Nice to have: depth in fine-tuning and reinforcement learning techniques.

Base salary is set by location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar roles, within a range of 200,000 USD to 322,000 USD.
