Description

The Lounge Assortment Optimisation team builds decision products that improve the assortment and the customer experience. The portfolio covers optimisation systems for planning and running the assortment, forecasting products that estimate demand, sell-through and commercial results, and generative AI tools for product curation, content and operational workflows.

This is a senior engineering role, sitting between data platforms, machine learning, optimisation and product development. You will make these products dependable in production and build the data, software, deployment and monitoring base that lets models move from experiments into everyday commercial use. You will work with Applied Scientists, Product Managers, engineers and commercial stakeholders to turn unclear problems into trusted, scalable systems.

The company is a pan-European fashion and lifestyle e-commerce platform. Lounge by the company is an online outlet in more than 20 European countries, running daily time-limited sales with discounts of up to 75% off recommended retail price across a wide range of brands, from luxury labels to niche names. It works with brand partners on new supply-chain and production methods.

Candidates are assessed only on qualifications, merit and business needs, regardless of gender, background, belief or disability. Let the company know about any accommodations you need during hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run production systems for optimisation, forecasting, machine learning and generative AI.
  • Design scalable data and ML pipelines in Python, Databricks, Spark, Airflow and dbt, with clear data contracts and dependable failure handling.
  • Give Applied Scientists reusable training, evaluation, deployment and experiment-tracking tools so they can build and assess models quickly.
  • Make models production-ready: set reliable inputs and outputs, automate deployment, track quality and performance, and keep model behaviour traceable.
  • Run workloads on the right platform: Databricks jobs for distributed data and ML work, and Dockerised applications on Kubernetes pods where needed.
  • Create dashboards, alerts and runbooks so users and engineers can see system state, spot problems and respond quickly.
  • Turn business rules and decision requirements from product and commercial partners into software that is easy to maintain.
  • Set practical standards for system design, testing, code review, CI/CD, observability and operational ownership.

Requirements

  • You have 3+ years building and running data or ML systems in production, such as in MLOps, data engineering, ML platforms or ML product work.
  • You write maintainable production Python and apply solid delivery practices: automated tests, code review and CI/CD.
  • You have strong software engineering fundamentals, especially reliability, scalability, observability and clean system design.
  • You understand how cloud workloads are deployed and run on AWS, including Docker containers and Kubernetes.
  • You explain things clearly to technical and non-technical people and like turning unclear problems into dependable systems.
  • Nice to have: experience with generative AI products, including LLM evaluation and monitoring. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Codex, Claude Code or Co-pilot is welcome.

Conditions

Equal opportunity applies: applications are welcome from all backgrounds.

Benefits

  • Employee share programme.
  • 40% off fashion and beauty sold and shipped by the company, 30% off Lounge by the company, and discounts from external partners.
  • 2 paid volunteering days a year.
  • 27 days of vacation a year to start for full-time employees.
  • Relocation assistance available, subject to prior agreement.
  • Family services, including counselling and support.
  • Health and wellbeing options, including Wellhub (formerly Gympass).
  • Mental health support and coaching.
  • Development through the training platform and a biannual peer-to-peer review.
