Description

The company builds AI-based visual computing platforms for autonomous vehicles, and this team develops the software that lets advanced driver assistance and safety features make smart decisions as cars become more computer-driven.

This is a senior software engineering role based in Stuttgart, Germany. You will work directly with automotive customers to integrate active safety software from the company's platform into production-ready vehicles, adapt it to each vehicle, diagnose system-level faults, and check that intervention functions such as AEB and AES behave correctly in both development and production cars.

You will work across perception, fusion, planning and vehicle integration, following problems through the whole software chain to find root causes. You will then fix them or coordinate fixes and pass what you learn to the company's engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and adapt the company's active safety software on customer development and production vehicles.
  • Investigate issues across the active safety chain, from sensor input through perception and fusion to maneuver behavior.
  • Work with customer and company engineers in Europe, the US, APAC and India to find root causes, deliver solutions for specific programs and drive lasting product fixes.
  • Configure and tune active safety software for different vehicle platforms, sensor setups, vehicle geometries and braking performance.
  • Write targeted C++ or Python changes, debugging tools and analysis workflows to resolve customer integration and functional problems.
  • Measure functional performance using recorded-data replay and in-vehicle tests, and explain the results clearly to customers and company engineers.
  • Support vehicle bring-up, software flashing, data logging, testing and functional validation.

Requirements

  • At least 8+ years of experience in ADAS development and triage, including work in vehicles.
  • A solid understanding of active safety functions from concept through validation, including hazard mitigation and functional safety principles.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing threat assessment algorithms, including time-to-collision (TTC).
  • Hands-on experience developing longitudinal and lateral intervention planners that turn threat assessments into smooth, physically feasible braking and steering commands.
  • A strong understanding of radar and camera perception outputs, including object confidence and classification uncertainty.
  • Proficiency in Linux and/or QNX-based embedded environments.
  • A proven ability to isolate issues systematically using log analysis, data review and coordination across technical functions.
  • A BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Automotive Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly and concisely to engineering teams.
  • A valid driver's license and readiness for road testing and travel.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd: experience with active safety software, or closely related perception, fusion, planning or controller work, including production experience with camera- and radar-based active safety systems.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd: experience integrating ADAS software into customer vehicle platforms and supporting automotive series programs, including commercial vehicles such as heavy vans, trucks or buses and their active safety regulations.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd: deep knowledge of Euro NCAP protocols, including scoring for Safe Driving and Crash Avoidance, such as VRU protection, junction scenarios and DSM requirements.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd: experience with data-driven development loops, including fleet-data triage, corner-case analysis and feedback to model-training teams.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd: hands-on experience with AI/ML workflows and deep neural networks, such as object detection, segmentation or depth estimation.
