Description

The company is hiring a senior or principal engineer to build infrastructure for training large foundation models, working in the Generalist Embodied Agent Research (GEAR) group.

The group leads Project GR00T, a long-term effort to build foundation models and full-stack technology for humanoid robots.

You will join a research team that publishes work on multimodal foundation models, large-scale robot learning, embodied AI and physics simulation. Past projects include Eureka, VIMA, Voyager, MineDojo, MimicPlay, Prismer and others. Your work will shape both research projects and product roadmaps.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain distributed training systems for multimodal foundation models used in robotics.
  • Raise GPU and cluster utilization so that training and fine-tuning on very large datasets run efficiently.
  • Create scalable data loaders and preprocessors for multimodal data such as video, text and sensor streams.
  • Build dependable monitoring and debugging tools that keep training workflows reliable and fast on large GPU clusters.
  • Work with researchers to move new model architectures into scalable training pipelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, robotics, engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of full-time industry experience in large-scale MLOps and AI infrastructure.
  • Proven record designing and tuning distributed training systems using PyTorch, JAX or TensorFlow.
  • Deep knowledge of GPU acceleration and CUDA programming, plus hands-on use of cluster management tools such as Kubernetes.
  • Strong Python skills and experience with a high-performance language such as C++.
  • Solid experience with large GPU clusters, HPC environments and job scheduling tools such as SLURM or Kubernetes.
  • Nice to have: a Master's or PhD in computer science, robotics, engineering or a related field.
  • Nice to have: experience leading a team of engineers and taking projects from concept to deployment as tech lead.
  • Nice to have: experience building large-scale LLM and multimodal LLM training infrastructure.
  • Nice to have: contributions to popular open-source AI frameworks or publications at top AI conferences such as NeurIPS, ICRA, ICLR or CoRL.

Conditions

The base salary range is 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD, set by location, experience and other objective job-related factors.

Applications are accepted until at least November 3, 2026.
