Description

The company builds a collaborative scheduling platform for construction. It helps project managers keep projects on schedule by spotting delays and disruptions early.

The company already works with leading construction firms, and customers have seen multi-month speed-ups through the product.

Backed by leading VCs including Earlybird and Newion, plus industry angels, the company is tackling an opportunity in the billions of dollars in an underdigitised, underserved market.

The company is growing deliberately. It hires slowly to keep the team small and highly capable.

This is a senior role that blends hands-on engineering with coaching and direct people management. It is not a management-only job, and it does not lead the whole engineering organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship features end to end, owning their results and the user problem behind them.
  • Work with Product, Design and other engineers to find practical solutions. Hands-on coding stays a lasting part of the role as your leadership grows.
  • Pair with engineers, explain your reasoning and give specific, actionable feedback so they build sound technical judgment and work more independently.
  • After an onboarding period, hold regular 1:1s, set development goals, review performance and address problems openly as the formal line manager.
  • Work with the VP Product and the stream leads to link development goals to day-to-day project work.
  • Coach junior engineers across both product streams during an initial ramp-up, while you learn the product, codebase and ways of working.
  • Over time, take on larger projects alongside the existing stream leads, then take responsibility for a stream: clarify scope, coordinate implementation, surface risks and help the team deliver.

Requirements

  • Senior-level engineering skills: you build and ship production software independently, debug unfamiliar systems, review code carefully and explain technical trade-offs.
  • You can move between frontend and backend as needed, sometimes split evenly and sometimes 80/20.
  • Coaching experience: you have helped less experienced engineers improve over time and can describe what you did and what changed. Onboarding and occasional reviews alone are not enough.
  • You are willing to take on all parts of people leadership: listening, giving direct feedback, setting clear expectations and addressing performance issues instead of avoiding them.
  • User outcomes matter to you, and you work well across engineering and non-engineering teams. You are at ease with ambiguity and improve how work gets done without adding bureaucracy.
  • Formal management experience is welcome but not required.
  • You speak and write English fluently.
  • You want to work closely with the team in the Berlin office at least 2-3 days a week.
  • Several career paths fit: a senior engineer who already enjoys mentoring, a hands-on lead from a small team, or a former manager who wants more hands-on building while keeping people responsibility.
  • You care about quality and about the experience of the end users.
  • You recognise your own values in the company's Culture Playbook.

Compensation of €90-110k, plus equity worth 45% of base salary on top.

  • Home office budget at the start.
  • Annual personal training budget of €1,500 (full-time equivalent).
  • Company-supported pension scheme (BAV) with a 30% contribution.
