Description

The company builds real-time intraoperative intelligence software for a minimally invasive robotic surgery system, with the aim of improving surgical efficiency and patient outcomes.

You will work with a cross-functional team on this software, which draws on algorithm development and software design.

The team wants someone who works well alone, moves quickly, solves problems well, cares about sound architecture and process, and can deliver robust, high-quality code even when requirements change often.

Responsibilities

  • Take part in every stage of building intraoperative surgical software.
  • Learn the clinical needs and turn them into technical specifications.
  • Design, prototype and build user-facing software along with computer vision and machine learning algorithms.
  • Refine the work based on user feedback and deliver production-ready code.
  • Help with system integration and testing.
  • Write formal design documentation.
  • Draft and review patent applications.
  • Shape the system and software architecture.

Requirements

  • Either 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, 6 years with a Master's degree, 3 years with a PhD, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep understanding of computer vision and machine learning, backed by hands-on work.
  • Working knowledge of at least one of: image segmentation, registration, reconstruction, camera pose estimation or SLAM.
  • Skilled in C++ or Python, with object-oriented design experience.
  • Skilled in GPU programming with CUDA, including tuning training and inference pipelines, multi-GPU use, GPU scheduling and state-of-the-art model architectures.
  • Familiar with at least one of OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow, ITK or VTK.
  • Desired: experience applying computer vision and machine learning to surgical use cases.
  • Desired: strong clinical knowledge of robotic surgery.
  • Desired: up to date on current model architectures, trends and technologies, and able to propose new ways to improve the software algorithms.

Conditions

You may be required to show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases, including COVID-19, and the details vary by role.

Some roles are subject to U.S. export controls, which may apply to candidates who are nationals of countries under embargo or sanctions. Government export licensing can take 3 to 6+ months, and a Technology Control Plan adds about 2 weeks to hiring. For those roles, any offer depends on an approved export license and/or an executed Technology Control Plan before the start date, which may or may not be flexible.

Qualified candidates with arrest or conviction records are considered under applicable fair chance laws.

Preference goes to qualified candidates who do not live, and do not plan to live, in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina or Tennessee.

The role may be filled at a different job level than advertised, depending on business need and the selected candidate's experience, knowledge and skills.

Pay is based mainly on the job level the role is filled at and the candidate's qualifications, consistent with applicable law.
