Senior IT Support Specialist

Description

The company builds rockets, spacecraft and critical subsystems for space missions, including trips to the Moon and Mars.

This is a senior on-site support role at the Long Beach office, serving staff at the headquarters.

You will work with the IT Client Services Lead and several IT teams, including Infrastructure and Launch, in a quick-moving setting.

You will mentor colleagues in a collaborative team and take ownership of more complex tasks and projects, which suits someone who wants to widen their technical skills across several technologies.

Responsibilities

• Keep IT services running smoothly day to day across the company.
• Log and update support desk tickets for incidents, requests, problems, changes and projects, along with the related documentation.
• Become the go-to subject matter expert for IT support and build strong working relationships.
• Advise and train different teams, and provide technical support and written documentation.
• Support Launch and Mission Operations during launch periods.

Requirements

• You have 4+ years of experience in IT support and a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• You have hands-on experience with most of the areas below and are proficient in at least two of them.
• Windows or Linux desktop operating systems, including imaging, maintenance and troubleshooting
• PC hardware, including building and taking apart desktop PCs
• Networking infrastructure and basic troubleshooting with TCP/IP and DNS
• Scripting in at least one language
• Active Directory and Group Policy
• You have taken part in a medium to complex end-to-end IT project, from requirements and planning through implementation, testing, stakeholder coordination and ongoing support.
• You are familiar with common AI platforms, can write effective prompts, assess AI output, and spot ways to use AI to improve service and efficiency.
• Nice to have: ITIL or CompTIA++ certification
• Nice to have: experience with cloud services such as Azure, AWS and O365
• Nice to have: familiarity with virtualization and public or private cloud environments
• Nice to have: experience with IaaS and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible and Terraform
• Nice to have: strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to see the big picture and link ideas
• Nice to have: the ability to explain complex technical ideas to a general audience
• Nice to have: experience in fast-paced high-tech sectors such as semiconductors or aerospace, supporting engineers, labs, manufacturing and critical operations like mission control, launch and test ops

Conditions

The role is onsite at the Long Beach office.

Shifts may include evenings and weekends, plus on-call rotation as needed.

Occasional domestic travel may be required.

Physical demands include long periods of sitting, standing, walking and computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust and fumes in production areas.

The hourly pay range for California is $30.38 to $37.98 USD. The exact level and base salary are set case by case, based on job knowledge and skills, education and experience.

US office roles require you to be a US citizen, a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or Department of Commerce, as applicable, under ITAR export rules.

New Zealand office roles require background checks, including nationality checks, before any offer. You must be eligible to access ITAR-regulated equipment and data. You may be ineligible if you do not hold citizenship of Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the European Union or a NATO member country, or if you hold ineligible dual citizenship or nationality.
