Description

This is a production engineering role, not consulting, project delivery, or research. You work embedded in a client's enterprise, alongside their teams, to make complex AI platforms run in messy real-world organizations. Success is measured by time-to-value, adoption, reliability, and scalability, not by delivery milestones.

Most AI pilots stall because deployment fails, not because the models are weak. Engineers in this role close that gap by turning platform capability into measurable business value inside a live enterprise.

Forward Deployed AI Engineers are the execution core of the company's deployment pods. The company is building what it expects to be the largest forward deployed engineering capability in the services industry. Early joiners will shape the role as it grows and will work on hard enterprise AI problems across many industries.

Responsibilities

  • Work inside client engineering and business teams to deploy, scale, and run AI platforms such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, SAP, or Palantir.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of production results, including time-to-value, reliability, adoption speed, and scalability, tied to business metrics.
  • Turn vague business problems into working production systems, prototyping in days and reaching production readiness in weeks.
  • Design and oversee AI architecture across identity, data, security, governance, the platform layer, and workflow integration.
  • Explain the technical design in business terms to the client's CTO, CFO, and CISO, and help shape use case roadmaps, ROI backlogs, and AI adoption plans.
  • Build reusable patterns, playbooks, and accelerators the client keeps, so their own team can run the system after you leave.
  • Lead design workshops, proofs of concept, architecture walkthroughs, and joint coding sessions with client engineers and leaders.
  • Capture patterns and lessons from each engagement so they can be reused across projects and help grow the practice.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of engineering experience with cloud-native systems such as APIs, microservices, containers, and serverless.
  • At least 1 year designing and deploying agentic solutions in production, including agents, orchestration, context engineering, RAG, and workflows.
  • At least 3 years working with AI platforms such as OpenAI, Claude, Vertex AI, and open-source models, including building abstraction layers for pipelines across several providers.
  • Extensive production deployment experience, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code with Terraform and Helm, monitoring, and debugging.
  • Proof of end-to-end delivery ownership in a client-embedded setting. Internal projects, vendor labs, or team-only deployments do not count.
  • Ability to show business value in terms a CFO would accept and act on, with deployment impact quantified.
  • Experience presenting to and earning the trust of senior stakeholders such as CTOs, CFOs, or CISOs.
  • Non-linear career paths are welcome. Assessment is based on proven deployment experience and outcome ownership rather than CV format.
  • Very good German and English, and willingness to travel occasionally for business.

Conditions

Equal opportunity: hiring decisions are made without regard to age, race, religion, skin colour, gender, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, citizenship, or other legally protected characteristics.

Benefits

  • Work on AI-driven solutions for large global enterprises across industries, technologies, and major transformation programs.
  • Access to leading cloud and AI ecosystems and strategic technology partnerships, plus collaboration with experienced engineers.
  • Paths into technical leadership or specialist tracks, mentoring, and ongoing development through certifications and advanced learning.
  • Flexible and hybrid working options to support work-life balance and personal ways of working.
  • Competitive pay extras, including bonus schemes, employee share purchase plans, and other role-specific benefits where they apply.
