Senior Engineer

Description

The company builds palm biometric verification that runs on any smartphone with no extra hardware, combining palm biometrics with agent verification for social, fintech, and crypto platforms.

The product is built against AI deepfakes and digital spoofing, with fraud resistance and privacy protection as core design goals.

This is a senior seat on a small team that works directly with the Head of Engineering to set technical direction.

The platform is the Proof of Reality product, and the team builds with AI tools daily, including Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.

Responsibilities

• Take a service from design and build through rollout, monitoring, and documentation, and keep ownership after launch.
• Decide architecture, data models, and APIs, and make the security and privacy tradeoffs.
• Turn unclear problems into shipped systems, choosing what to build first and what to cut.
• Build and strengthen the backend services and front-end experiences for the verification platform as it grows.
• Create data visibility across the platform, including verification metrics, dashboards, and alerts.
• Build the developer portal and the partner-facing APIs that customer integrations rely on.
• Use AI agents for recurring work such as debugging, migrations, and maintenance, and improve the reliability of internal agents.
• Review designs and code, including AI-generated code, and set the bar for what ships.
• Help other engineers grow through code review, clear documentation, and sound working habits.

Requirements

• 5+ years of building production software, including real ownership of backend services after launch.
• Strong experience in Go or a similar backend language, and comfort working in TypeScript and React.
• Solid judgment on APIs and data modeling, including schema changes and migrations on live systems.
• Experience building and running scalable cloud-based applications.
• Ability to trace problems across service boundaries using logs, metrics, traces, and source code.
• Daily fluency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, with critical review of their output.
• Enough hands-on expertise to check AI output yourself, and to catch it when a tool claims 100% correctness and is wrong.
• A track record of taking a product from zero to one and scaling it to 100, at a startup or by launching a new product line inside a larger company.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with tradeoffs, progress, and blockers shared without being asked.
• Strong candidates may also have: experience with Kubernetes, GitOps, Kafka, Redis, gRPC/protobuf, or PostgreSQL with sqlc.
• Strong candidates may also have: a background in identity, biometrics, fraud, or other security and privacy sensitive systems.
• Strong candidates may also have: hands-on work with agentic or autonomous coding tools beyond the mainstream assistants.
• Strong candidates may also have: side projects or open source work they are proud of.
• Strong candidates may also have: a base in New York or San Francisco, where the tech and product teams meet in person.
