Description

The company is looking for a Senior Design Director to lead the day-to-day execution of its overall visual identity. This is a hands-on role for someone who builds design systems and produces the graphic work themselves, not someone who only oversees it.

The company expects you to use generative AI as a working tool in the creative pipeline. Use it to speed up brainstorming, make visual prototypes quickly, and cut down on routine production, so your team can spend more time on original, human storytelling.

The role is hybrid, with a 40-hour scheduled week and a New York location.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily execution and application of the brand's visual identity, keeping design consistent and technically sound at every customer touchpoint.
  • Build and roll out brand design systems, asset libraries and reusable toolkits that internal and external teams can use to produce consistent assets quickly.
  • Work closely with campaign creative teams to build and scale custom graphic identities for major brand and Above-The-Line (ATL) campaigns, turning big concepts into workable designs.
  • Mentor and develop one dedicated Graphic Designer, working alongside the Sr. Design Director on their technical growth and quality of work.
  • Respect the brand's core principles while finding bold, fresh ways to update its visual identity with a modern, refined design approach.
  • Present and defend your design work, visual decisions and system choices to internal creative leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree, or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience, gained through work, military service, specialized training, or a combination of these.
  • Even better if you have: seven or more years at top design studios, advertising agencies or strong in-house creative teams, with a portfolio showing hands-on work on brand design systems and graphic design.
  • Even better if you have: proven experience building, maintaining and scaling brand systems for a Fortune 100 company or a large enterprise, including flexible guidelines that let a large organization move quickly.
  • Even better if you have: a strong interest in typography, layout, photography, color theory and graphic design, a sharp eye for detail, and an understanding of how to build scalable design systems.
  • Even better if you have: extensive experience creating detailed brand books, design toolkits, mechanicals and style guides that work across print, digital, motion and experiential formats.
  • Even better if you have: a collaborative, humble approach, analytical thinking about design systems, and a drive to keep improving the technical quality of the work.
  • You are encouraged to apply even if you do not meet every 'even better' qualification.

Conditions

This is a hybrid role with a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, set by your manager.

You are responsible for following the hybrid work policies.

The scheduled workload is 40 hours per week.

The annual base salary for the New York location, based on a full-time schedule, is $115,500.00 to $201,000.00.

Salary depends on your location and on the job-related skills and experience you confirm. Part-time pay is adjusted to match your hours.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage, short- and long-term disability, basic and supplemental life insurance, AD&D insurance, identity theft protection, pet insurance, and group home and auto insurance.
  • A matched 401(k) savings plan, up to 8 company-paid holidays per year, and up to 6 personal days per year.
  • Paid parental leave, adoption assistance and tuition assistance, along with other incentives.
  • Newly hired employees receive up to 15 days of vacation per year, which increases with length of service.
  • Depending on the role, premium pay such as overtime, shift differential, holiday pay and allowances may be available.
  • The role has an incentive component with the potential to earn more. Part-time employees may qualify for some of these benefits depending on their individual circumstances.
