Senior Data Platform Engineer

Description

The company is the company Hubs Poland, and it is hiring for a Senior Data Platform Engineer.

Salary ranges: senior specialist position 9600 - 22 000 PLN; expert position 13 000 - 28 000 PLN.

The ranges in the announcement are adjusted and may differ from the ranges in the remuneration regulations.

You will join a squad building the VISTA (Data Analytics) Fallback Platform, an initiative that keeps the company's data and analytics ecosystem running and ensures business continuity.

The platform provides fallback capabilities for critical analytical and reporting workloads using modern lakehouse and data platform technologies, so key business processes can recover quickly and keep running during a crisis.

The role is titled Engineer III or Engineer IV in the global the company job architecture. It strengthens the team that delivers and operates the VISTA Fallback solution, bringing together data engineering, platform engineering and reliability engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain the company's Data Analytics Fallback Platform.
• Build resilient data platform capabilities that support critical business workloads during disaster recovery and fallback.
• Develop and run solutions based on Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, Apache Iceberg, Trino and object storage.
• Build and maintain data processing, orchestration, storage and metadata management.
• Implement replication, synchronization, reconciliation and recovery mechanisms for critical datasets.
• Build and improve analytical and batch pipelines using modern cloud and data tools.
• Improve observability with monitoring, logging, alerting and operational readiness practices.
• Keep the platform reliable, secure, recoverable and resilient.
• Implement backup, restore, disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
• Work with platform, infrastructure, security and data engineering teams across the company.
• Help shape architecture decisions, engineering standards, automation work and technical roadmaps.
• Take part in support, operational readiness and on-call duty where required.

Requirements

• Have 4+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering or site reliability engineering.
• Have hands-on experience in at least one of these areas, with practical knowledge of the related technologies: Data processing and analytics (Apache Spark, DBT, Python, SQL, BigQuery, Trino); Data lake and storage (Apache Iceberg, Hive Metastore, MinIO or S3-compatible object storage, Google Cloud Storage); Platform and infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, Keycloak, Ceph, ingress and networking); Reliability and operations (monitoring, logging, alerting, data replication, backup and restore, disaster recovery).
• Have experience building, operating or supporting modern data platforms and distributed data processing environments.
• Have practical experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native technologies.
• Have experience with automation, CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
• Extra points for: experience with Airflow-based orchestration platforms; Keycloak, Ceph or enterprise-scale platform services; designing and operating large-scale data platforms; disaster recovery, business continuity or fallback solutions; modern lakehouse architectures based on Apache Iceberg; data replication and synchronization at scale; migrating workloads between cloud and on-premise environments.
