Sign Up to ReadJoin SE3 Labs as Senior Computer Vision Engineer - Perception
Build the perception that lets SE3's autonomous systems see and understand the world, and test your work on real missions.
About SE3
SE3 Labs builds spatial intelligence and autonomy software for unmanned systems. We combine 3D computer vision, state estimation and AI to help autonomous platforms perceive their surroundings, know where they are and operate when GPS and other sensors become unreliable. Defence is a core application of our work today.
We are growing to a team of 100+ people. Join at a stage where you can shape our Perception team , help build the team and grow your responsibilities as the company expands.
Our founding team's research has received more than 90,000 citations. You will work closely with technical founders and engineers with deep experience in computer vision and autonomous systems, turning that research depth into systems that work in the field.
About the Role
As Senior Perception Engineer , you'll build core parts of SE3's perception stack, from object detection and tracking to semantic segmentation and depth estimation. You'll work closely with our perception leads, founders and autonomy engineers, testing your work on recorded mission data and in field trials. You don't need a career spent in computer vision: we care most about exceptional ability and a strong pull towards the field.
What You’ll Work On
Detection & Tracking: Build and improve object detection and multi-object tracking for our autonomous platforms.
Segmentation & Depth: Develop semantic segmentation and depth estimation that give downstream autonomy a reliable view of the scene.
Data & Training: Prepare datasets, train and compare models, and choose approaches based on measured results.
Evaluation & Replay: Extend our evaluation and replay tooling so improvements are measured on recorded data before they reach the field.
Real-Time Deployment: Optimize models to run on onboard compute under real-time constraints.
Field Debugging: Analyze mission logs, reproduce failures and fix root causes until the system holds up in real conditions.
Code Quality: Write clean, tested production code and review your teammates' work.
Your Profile
You take ownership of problems from first idea to deployed result, and you learn new areas quickly.
You hold an M.Sc . or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Robotics, Mathematics, Physics or a related field, with an outstanding academic record such as top grades, research assistant roles, awards or competition wins.
You bring 2+ years of practical experience at a high-calibre technology company, research lab or startup.
You have a strong interest in computer vision, shown through university courses, research, projects or work. If you studied it and want to get back to it, we want to hear from you.
You're a strong programmer who writes production-quality code.
You speak fluent English; German is a plus. Given the nature of SE3's work in the defence sector, candidates must be eligible to work on defence-related projects and, where required, obtain the relevant security clearance.
Especially Valued Bonus Skills
Publications at CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML or ICLR.
Contributions to open-source computer vision or robotics projects.
Experience in a robotics or autonomous racing student team.
Deploying models on edge compute such as Jetson-class platforms.
Hands-on time with drones or other robots in the field.
