Senior AI/ML Engineer

Description

The company is an early AI-focused team building the systems layer for a process intelligence platform.

You will turn complex enterprise data into dependable product features that run on hosted AI models.

Responsibilities

• Build and run production AI services and pipelines covering retrieval, context building, model choice, structured extraction, and orchestration.
• Create evaluation sets, benchmarks, regression tests, guardrails, and fallback logic to measure and raise AI quality.
• Watch production systems and fix problems with latency, cost, failures, and reliability.
• Follow the full path from customer data to generated output, and refine features based on customer feedback.
• Decide when to build versus buy and when to refactor, and take projects from design through deployment and monitoring.

Requirements

• Four or more years of experience in applied AI, machine learning, or production software engineering, including ownership of shipped systems that customers use.
• Strong Python, experience with asynchronous services, and familiarity with a typed language such as Go, C++, Java, Scala, or C.
• Hands-on work with hosted LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, structured outputs, or agent orchestration.
• Experience building AI evaluations or benchmarks and improving systems through regression testing, human review, or other quality checks.
• Ability to reason across data pipelines and user-facing behavior end to end, and to explain things clearly to customers.
• Experience shipping product and acting on customer feedback, ideally at an early-stage or fast-moving company.
• A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• Tools and technologies you will use include PostgreSQL, Redis, GCP, Terraform, Docker, Datadog, React, TypeScript, and AI model APIs.
• Helpful but optional: experience with enterprise documents, multimodal inputs, or process and workflow systems.

Conditions

Base salary is $180,000 to $275,000 USD per year.

This role is on-site in San Francisco, California.
