Description

Applicants must be able to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship, since the company does not sponsor visas for this role.

The job is based near or within the Raleigh-Durham area.

You will join the Software Portfolio Organization as a Product Manager and own a defined area of ELERA Commerce Suite, the company's flagship software. You report to a Senior Manager who owns the ELERA portfolio and work alongside other product managers to bring ELERA solutions to several of the ten largest global retailers and to the wider retail market.

Your focus is one-to-many offerings: capabilities built once and delivered to many retailers.

The company is a billion-dollar global firm in Research Triangle Park, NC, that supplies in-store retail technology and leads the world in installed market share.

Responsibilities

  • Talk with retailers, sales staff, partners, and market researchers to find the business problems behind customer requests, and shape those problems rather than accepting them as written.
  • Separate the capabilities that many retailers need, and that are worth building once, from requests specific to a single retailer.
  • Build the business case for each offering, covering opportunity, value, competitive standing, and size, then defend it when priorities are set.
  • Set market positioning and value propositions, and work with marketing, sales, and services to take them to market.
  • Own the roadmap and backlog for your offerings, making prioritization calls and explaining the tradeoffs behind them.
  • Write a business requirements document for every product direction you set. It includes the product rationale, customer and market evidence with transcripts, background, assumptions and exclusions, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Build a working clickable prototype for each direction, using AI design and development tools pointed at the codebase, so engineers and stakeholders see your intent directly.
  • Work with engineering during the build, answer questions on intent as they come up, and confirm the delivery matches the business case.
  • Run UAT and give business sign-off when engineering finishes, checking that the delivered capability meets its requirements and can ship to market.
  • Help improve how the team works with AI, since the methods from insight to prototype change quickly.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree plus 10+ years of experience, or an equivalent mix.
  • 8+ years in product management, with clear ownership of and accountability for product results.
  • Proven ownership of a product, product area, or major business problem, judged by business outcomes rather than by the number of features you delivered.
  • A record of setting product direction from customer and market evidence, including cases where you chose not to build something.
  • Written work you authored yourself, such as requirements, business cases, or product strategy documents.
  • Experience with enterprise customers and senior internal stakeholders, including holding your position under pressure and negotiating to a decision.
  • Hands-on use of AI tools to produce real work, with concrete examples of product requirements and UX prototypes you made with them.
  • Evidence that you have taught yourself new skills without being asked. The company values this more than any specific tool, since tools keep changing.
  • Preferred: experience in point-of-sale, retail technology, or enterprise commerce.
  • Preferred: proficiency with AI tools and a clear view of governance and quality standards for using them.
  • Preferred: experience creating or directing clickable prototypes as part of product definition.
  • Preferred: experience working within a formal portfolio governance model, including prioritization rubrics, capacity tradeoffs, and formal change control.
  • Preferred: experience managing a portfolio of offerings where prioritization and resource decisions had to be defended.

Conditions

The role is based near or within the Raleigh-Durham area.

Benefits

  • Group health coverage: medical, dental, and vision.
