Description

The company was founded at the University of Michigan Medical School and is growing quickly as a school-based mental health organization.

It helps adults in K-12 schools learn simple, evidence-based practices that support everyday wellness and respond to problems as they come up. A digital platform offers role-specific learning pathways for all staff, and so far more than 14,000 teachers, administrators, and school mental health professionals have been reached.

Demand is rising from schools and districts across the United States. The growth strategy names Title I schools as the broadest target group, with a particular focus on students at high risk for poor mental health outcomes and limited access to quality care.

The team is committed to equity in health and healthcare access. The company looks for people who practice cultural humility and who help build an inclusive workplace.

Addressing inequity in access to evidence-based mental health care is central to the mission, and applications are encouraged from people who can help advance that work, especially those whose perspective has been historically excluded.

Responsibilities

  • You lead day-to-day product development and delivery and coordinate the processes that connect program work with the digital platform.
  • You advocate for the user experience and check that each product decision matches how users actually work.
  • You set product priorities, turn user needs into clear requirements, drive delivery across UX and engineering, align program and product work, and run the workflow for contracted content and platform readiness.
  • You own three outcomes: product delivery, where useful improvements are prioritized, built, and released efficiently; program and product alignment, where shared priorities, timelines, and dependencies are coordinated to cut delays and surprises; and content-to-platform execution, where content moves reliably from development through review, design, implementation, and publication.
  • You report to the Head of Program & Product and work closely with the UX designer, lead engineer, program colleagues, and external contractors so deliverables are coordinated, high quality, and on time.
  • You have no direct reports, so you lead through influence, sound independent decisions, and ownership of results.
  • Product development (50% of the role): Turn program and product needs into a prioritized roadmap and actionable backlog, weighing user needs, engineering estimates, technical risk, dependencies, and capacity.
  • Product development (50% of the role): Own product work from requirements through UX, engineering, testing, and release so solutions meet user needs and add real value.
  • Product development (50% of the role): Keep product requirements and UX standards documented.
  • Product development (50% of the role): Write user stories and acceptance criteria with UX, engineering, and program stakeholders.
  • Product development (50% of the role): Explain product decisions, priorities, and their reasoning clearly to the people they affect.
  • Product development (50% of the role): Balance new features against maintenance, technical debt, and ongoing quality.
  • Product development (50% of the role): Gather and synthesize feedback from the company staff, partner schools and districts, and end users to find opportunities and shape priorities.
  • Product development (50% of the role): Track usage, quality, and delivery metrics, report on performance regularly, and use the findings to improve products and processes.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Forecast upcoming work with the Head of Program & Product, identify capacity limits, and balance competing initiatives.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Make day-to-day scope and prioritization calls within agreed priorities, and raise major trade-offs, risks, and roadmap changes early with clear recommendations.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Coordinate planning and delivery across product, program, UX, engineering, and external contributors so priorities, timelines, dependencies, and resource limits stay visible and aligned.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Align content development and design with program priorities, platform requirements, and release dates.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Lead backlog refinement and sprint planning so commitments are realistic and match capacity and timelines.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Build repeatable workflows, standards, and handoffs that make content production and publishing more efficient, consistent, and predictable.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Track content deliverables and dependencies, and address delays, incomplete work, and quality issues before they affect implementation or release.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Keep project status, open decisions, risks, and blockers visible, and resolve issues or escalate them with recommendations.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Coordinate launches and other work that needs integrated program and product delivery, confirming every workstream is ready.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Set up lightweight planning, tracking, and communication practices that keep delivery predictable without extra overhead.
  • Prioritization and delivery (45% of the role): Run the end-to-end workflow for getting program content onto the platform, from planning through development, review, design, implementation, and publication.
  • Team responsibilities (5% of the role): Attend all staff meetings, retreats, and other relevant the company meetings as needed.
  • Team responsibilities (5% of the role): Pitch in at all-hands events and on other team initiatives when required.

Requirements

  • We suggest 5+ years of experience in these areas: managing digital product development and delivery, from user needs and requirements through design, development, testing, and release.
  • Five-plus years of experience coordinating complex cross-functional projects with product, design, engineering, program, and other stakeholders.
  • Five-plus years of experience managing interdependent workflows and deliverables, including external contractors, timelines, and checking that work meets agreed requirements.
  • Five-plus years of experience coordinating content development and production, ideally with several contributors, review and approval steps, and delivery through a digital platform.
  • Five-plus years of experience using iterative development to set priorities, handle competing demands, and deliver within resource and time limits.
  • Five-plus years of experience using user feedback, product data, and performance measures to guide decisions and improve products or processes.
  • Five-plus years of experience leading work across teams through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Skills that suit this work include product judgment: weighing user value against effort and constraints, making trade-offs, and recommending clear priorities.
