Description

Location: London or Bristol, UK (hybrid, three days a week in the office)

Level: Senior Engineer C3

Team: Growth

Responsibilities

  • As a Pre-Sales Engineer, you are a trusted technical contributor within our team, helping deliver impactful sales engagements through configuration and development in our demo environments. You’ll play a contributor role to larger deals, and often lead pre-sales activities for smaller or less complex opportunities. You are a key part of the commercial engine, helping us scale by ensuring our technical pre-sales efforts are thorough, accurate, and client-focused.
  • This role will report to the Head of Demo Engineering and you’ll be part of a team that works on sales to Kaluza’s largest clients globally. You will have broad expertise on Kaluza’s product suite and our value differentiators and will develop depth in particular areas of our products. You will have a good understanding of the challenges facing energy retailers from a client or user perspective and be able to show-case how our solutions solve them..
  • You will play a crucial role in building product demonstrations and collateral that evangelises the Kaluza platform.
  • Own and deliver demo activities for small to mid-size opportunities, especially during high team capacity periods. This includes configuring and delivering tailored product demonstrations and responding to client technical questions with clarity and confidence.
  • Support technical delivery on complex deals , working alongside senior team members to prepare solution configurations, contribute to discovery conversations, and ensure client requirements are well captured and translated.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to scope solutions, validate feasibility, and communicate trade-offs in a clear and client-friendly manner.
  • Lead or contribute to proof-of-concept (PoC) projects , ensuring they reflect client needs and demonstrate our platform’s ability to deliver measurable outcomes. Track PoC success criteria and highlight risks or gaps to the wider team.
  • Represent the Pre-Sales function in internal planning and alignment sessions , helping ensure technical accuracy, smooth handovers, and clear documentation for post-sale teams.
  • Document and share learnings from client engagements , including product feedback, recurring questions, and potential areas for improvement in our pre-sales approach or demo assets.
  • What you’ll bring
  • Ideally, you’ll have:
  • Software development experience in a regulated industry using TypeScript, with a track record of designing and building complex solutions to customer problems
  • Experience architecting solutions on AWS, knowing which technologies to use when and the trade-offs involved
  • Confidence working with and explaining event-driven architectures and asynchronous APIs
  • Experience in a commercial or client-facing technical role, ideally selling SaaS in a regulated industry, with examples of adapting a solution to meet a customer’s unique needs
  • The ability to distil complex concepts into clear, simple points, and to work through differing opinions with empathy
  • Comfort working autonomously across multiple opportunities, handling ambiguity and knowing which data to use to measure success
  • An interest in renewable energy and the challenges facing energy retailers will help you hit the ground running.
  • Tech stack: TypeScript, AWS, event-driven architectures, asynchronous APIs
  • Our Values
  • Five values guide how we work at Kaluza:
  • Play to win: Collective pride in decarbonising energy at scale.

  • Health and security: Private medical insurance with virtual GP, life assurance, pension scheme, free mortgage advice and eye tests

  • We want to meet people from all walks of life. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be, and we recognise talent on merit and potential. If you’re excited about the role but don’t tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you.
