MES Software Engineer

The MES Software Engineer designs, builds, connects, deploys and supports Manufacturing Execution System solutions for automotive manufacturing plants.

Responsibilities

• Configure and implement MES solutions with FactoryTalk ProductionCentre (FTPC) and Modular Framework (MF).
• Build and maintain MES functions such as production execution, traceability, genealogy, quality and reporting.
• Connect MES to ERP systems (SAP, Infor LN, custom ERP), PLCs, Kepware, FactoryTalk Live Data, databases and web services.
• Write custom applications, business logic, reports, interfaces and database objects in Java, C,.NET, SQL Server, REST/SOAP APIs and related technologies.
• Install, configure, test, deploy and upgrade systems, and improve their performance.
• Diagnose application, integration, database and production problems, providing Level 2/3 support.
• Write technical specifications, architecture documents and deployment procedures.
• Work with project teams to estimate effort, define technical solutions and support delivery.

Requirements

• Required: a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related field.
• Preferred: 5+ years of MES software engineering experience.
• Preferred: strong hands-on experience with FactoryTalk ProductionCentre (FTPC), FactoryTalk Modular Framework (MF), and MES implementation and customization.
• Preferred: working knowledge of Java, C,.NET Framework and.NET Core, SQL Server and T-SQL, REST/SOAP web services, and Git or Azure DevOps.
• Preferred: experience connecting MES to SAP, Infor LN or other ERP systems, and to Kepware, FactoryTalk Live Data, OPC DA/UA, PLCs and industrial automation systems.
• Preferred: understanding of ISA-95, manufacturing operations management, traceability, genealogy and automotive manufacturing processes.
• Preferred: experience tuning performance, troubleshooting and supporting enterprise MES applications in production.
• Preferred industry experience: automotive manufacturing, smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) and digital transformation initiatives.

Conditions

This is an onsite role in Alabama, Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM-5:00 PM.

Employees are expected to work at a Rockwell location on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless they have a business obligation away from the office.
