Description

The opportunity

We are looking for a Managing Consultant to help grow and deliver our Digital Trust & Cyber Security work in the United States.

You will bring strong and relevant market experience from either Utilities or Transport. Experience across both sectors is not required. What matters is your ability to apply credible sector insight to the challenges facing organisations responsible for complex, interconnected and operationally critical services.

You will work with senior clients to understand their priorities, shape opportunities and translate emerging cyber and technology risks into practical action. A particular area of focus will be post-quantum cryptography, where clients need to understand their exposure, assess critical systems and trust dependencies, establish priorities and plan a managed transition.

This is a senior role combining market development, senior client engagement, commercial contribution, consulting delivery and team leadership. You will work with colleagues across PA, relevant US go-to-market teams and Jacobs to convert market opportunity into high-quality client work and repeatable capability.

The role is expected to be aligned to PA’s Digital & Data stream and supported across the wider DTCS and Jacobs growth agenda.

What you’ll be doing

Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders in US Utilities and/or Transport organisations.

Bring practical sector insight to conversations about cyber security, resilience, critical infrastructure and emerging technology risk.

Identify and shape client opportunities, helping move them from initial conversations through qualification, proposal and delivery.

Contribute to the growth of our US Digital Trust & Cyber Security business, including opportunities arising through PA’s collaboration with Jacobs.

Help clients understand the relevance of post-quantum cryptography to their organisation, critical services, technology estate and supply chain.

Shape and lead PQC-readiness work, including executive briefings, readiness assessments, prioritisation, roadmaps and related follow-on activity.

Apply security-architecture thinking to cryptographic assets, trust relationships, technology and supplier dependencies, and the sequencing of migration.

Connect sector, business and operational context with specialist cryptography, security architecture, OT, resilience and transformation expertise from across PA and Jacobs.

Provide senior oversight as opportunities convert into delivery, ensuring teams remain focused on client outcomes, quality and practical recommendations.

Lead consulting teams and create clear roles for specialist, delivery and junior colleagues.

Contribute to propositions, market perspectives and reusable approaches where these support real client engagement and commercial opportunity.

Support account and pursuit teams with sector insight, qualification, solution shaping, proposals and senior client discussions.

Develop colleagues and help build a sustainable US capability around critical-infrastructure cyber security and PQC.

We believe in the power of ingenuity to build a positive human future.

As strategies, technologies and innovation collide, we create opportunity from complexity. Our teams combine innovative thinking and breakthrough technologies to progress further, faster. Our clients adapt and transform, and together we achieve enduring results.

Our Digital Trust & Cyber Security team helps clients strengthen trust in technology, build resilience and respond to emerging cyber risks. In the US, we are growing our work with clients operating critical infrastructure, drawing on PA’s consulting, cyber and technology capabilities and our collaboration with Jacobs.

Requirements

  • Significant professional experience in either Energy, Utilities or Transport, gained in consulting, industry or a combination of the two, with a familiarity of the relevant industry frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK TTPs, NIST CSF, and CIS Control etc).
  • Strong grounding in cyber security, technology risk, operational resilience, security architecture or a closely related field
  • Relevant cyber security, architecture, resilience or risk qualification (particularly keen for experience in Industrial Control Systems), for example:
  • OT/ICS cybersecurity
  • Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI)
  • CISA, GIAC
  • Experience engaging senior client or business stakeholders and turning complex issues into clear decisions and practical action.
  • Experience originating, shaping, selling or expanding consulting or professional-services work.
  • A record of leading significant client engagements, workstreams or multidisciplinary teams.
  • The ability to work across business, operational and technical audiences.
  • Experience working with complex technology estates, third-party dependencies, legacy environments or operational technology.
  • The commercial judgement to qualify opportunities, shape proportionate responses and maintain a clear route from client need to delivery.
  • The leadership capability expected of a Managing Consultant, including developing others, mobilising expertise and taking responsibility for the quality of client outcomes.
  • The ability to collaborate across organisational boundaries and create an effective team around an opportunity or engagement.
  • Direct cryptography or specialist delivery experience is valuable but is not proposed as an absolute requirement. A credible candidate may bring strong sector, client and security-architecture experience and build deeper capability with PA’s existing specialists.
  • Desirable experience
  • Experience working in or with a senior security, resilience, technology or critical-infrastructure role.
  • Consulting experience combined with time in industry.
  • Experience of cryptographic readiness, crypto-agility, trust architecture or technology migration.
  • Experience with critical-infrastructure cyber security across IT and operational technology.
  • Experience working with engineering, infrastructure or technology partners.
  • Experience creating assessments, strategies, roadmaps or transformation programmes that lead to implementation.
  • An established network within the US Energy/Utilities or Transport market.
  • Additional Information
  • Life at PA
  • We believe diversity fuels ingenuity. We welcome candidates with different career paths and combinations of consulting, industry, commercial and technical experience.
  • For this role, substantive evidence of sector credibility, client impact, commercial contribution and leadership is more important than matching a rigid career pattern.
