Description

Our Purpose

Together with our customers, we’re helping build a sustainable economy where everyone can prosper. We support a wide range of digital payments choices, making transactions secure, simple, smart and accessible. Our technology and innovation, partnerships and networks combine to deliver a unique set of products and services that help people, businesses and governments realize their greatest potential.

Title and Summary

We’re looking for a Developer Experience (DX) Designer who combines technical communication, developer advocacy, user research, and UX thinking to shape how developers interact with our products.

This role goes beyond traditional documentation or advocacy—you will design and influence the end-to-end developer journey, from first touchpoint to long-term adoption. You’ll use content, research, and insights to improve usability, drive engagement, and ensure an exceptional developer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Developer Experience & UX Strategy
  • Own and continuously improve the end-to-end developer journey (onboarding, learning, building, troubleshooting, scaling)
  • Identify friction points in APIs, SDKs, tooling, and documentation through research and analytics
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to improve developer-facing UX and usability
  • Advocate for developers as users, ensuring their needs are represented in product decisions
  • User Research & Developer Insights
  • Conduct research with merchants, partners, and developers integrating MACS products (interviews, usability testing, surveys, feedback analysis)
  • Analyze developer behavior across documentation, APIs, and integration funnels; synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into actionable insights
  • Translate insights into improvements that reduce time-to-implementation [or other key KPIs] and integration errors
  • Map developer personas and journey flows (for example, e-commerce engineers, payment integrators, partners)
  • Content Strategy
  • Define and own the developer content strategy for the company Checkout Services, aligning content initiatives with product goals, integration success metrics, and business outcomes
  • Drive a journey-based content approach, ensuring content supports critical developer milestones such as onboarding, successful integration, and feature adoption
  • Partner with technical writers, product managers, and UX designers to ensure content is consistent, discoverable, and optimized for usability and conversion
  • Use developer analytics, behavioral data, and research insights to prioritize content investments and continuously optimize effectiveness
  • Identify gaps in the developer experience where content, structure, or guidance can improve integration speed and reduce friction
  • Advocate for content as a core component of the product experience, not just a support function
  • Developer Advocacy & Ecosystem Engagement
  • Engage with developers integrating the company Checkout Solutions via forums, partner channels, and events
  • Create educational content (blogs, demos, walkthroughs) focused on real-world payment scenarios
  • Represent developer perspectives internally, especially around usability and integration pain points
  • Support strategic partnerships by improving developer onboarding experiences
  • Product & Business Impact
  • Partner with engineering, product, and design teams to shape developer tools and APIs
  • Influence roadmap decisions with evidence-based developer insights.
  • Help align developer experience improvements with business KPIs (tokenization, Click to Pay conversions, transaction authentication)
  • Collaborate with product, onboarding, and regional teams to reduce integration time and support tickets
  • Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years in technical writing, including developer documentation and API content with demonstrable experience working with APIs, SDKs, or payment platforms (10+ years preferred)
  • 3+ years in UX design/content design and user research
  • Strong understanding of developer workflows and integration challenges
  • Ability to apply UX and user-centered design principles to technical experiences
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-centered experiences
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in developer advocacy, Developer Relations, or community-facing roles
  • Familiarity with:
  • Usability testing and research methods
  • Information architecture and content systems
  • Developer onboarding optimization
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and onboarding teams
  • Key Skills
  • Developer empathy and user-centered thinking
  • Content strategy and information architecture
  • UX research and usability testing
  • Technical storytelling
  • API and developer tooling fluency
  • Cross-functional influence
  • What Success Looks Like
  • Developers and partners can self-integrate with minimal friction
  • Data-driven insights delivered to product and DX teams
  • Improved developer onboarding success rates and satisfaction (DX metrics, feedback)
  • Reduced friction in developer journeys (e.g., time-to-implementation) and integration-related support queries
  • Corporate Security Responsibility
  • All activities involving access to the company assets, information, and networks comes with an inherent risk to the organization and, therefore, it is expected that every person working for, or on behalf of, the company is responsible for information security and must:
  • Abide by the company’s security policies and practices;
  • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed;
  • Report any suspected information security violation or breach, and
  • Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with the company’s guidelines.
