Description

The company's Space Sector is hiring a Systems Engineer for Mission Modeling Simulation at Level 3 or 4, based in Chandler, AZ.

The role builds and analyzes models and simulations at both the mission and system level for advanced missile and interceptor systems.

You will be a hands-on technical lead who works across disciplines and speaks directly with program and customer leadership.

A Secret clearance is required before you start. Relocation assistance may be available.

The role involves about 10% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside systems, GNC, seeker and sensor, software, mission, and integration and test engineers.
  • Build and integrate performance models, algorithms, and simulations of missiles, interceptors, sensors, threats, and command-and-control systems.
  • Run operations and behavior analysis and mission effectiveness studies, and compare architecture options for delivering an effect within a wider campaign, including end-to-end and campaign-level assessments.
  • Integrate graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
  • Connect operational mission needs and analysis results to system and subsystem requirements, engineering analyses, performance metrics, test strategies, documentation, and specification and review content.
  • Prepare and present analysis-backed recommendations that shape architecture trades, CONOPS, and TTPs.

Requirements

  • Level 3: a bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus 5 years of professional experience in systems engineering or modeling and simulation, or a master's degree plus 3 years, or a Ph.D. plus 1 year.
  • Level 4: a bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus 8 years of professional experience in systems engineering or modeling and simulation, or a master's degree plus 6 years, or a Ph.D. plus 4 years.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • You must hold an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
  • You have shown experience supporting mission-level and system-level modeling and simulation for missile or interceptor programs, or integrated air and missile defense programs.
  • You have hands-on experience with operations analysis and virtual simulation tools such as AFSIM, NGTS, Brawler, STK, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar environments.
  • You have a strong grounding in probability, statistics, and design of experiments as applied to weapon system and mission performance.
  • You have supported technical teams, defined MS&A plans, and reviewed or approved models, assumptions, and analysis results.
  • Preferred: you can obtain and maintain Top Secret and/or Special Access Program (SAP) access, and active TS/SAP is highly preferred.
  • Preferred: you communicate well in writing and speech, including briefing complex analysis results to program and customer leadership.
  • Preferred: you stay committed until tasks are finished, whether working alone or in a team, and you have strong mentoring and training skills.
  • Preferred: you have experience in one or more of these areas: missile or interceptor GNC and tracking or estimation (Kalman filtering, particle filtering, optimal estimation theory); RF or EO/IR seeker and sensor modeling; integrated air defense systems or threat modeling; electronic attack, electronic protection, and countermeasures modeling; survivability, lethality, and vulnerability analysis at weapon or mission level; Model-Based Systems Engineering and digital engineering, linking MS&A into architecture and requirements flow-down; defining TTPs and CONOPS using mission-level simulation and kill-chain analysis.
  • Preferred: you are proficient in MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar languages for algorithm development, model integration, scripting, and data analysis.
  • Preferred: you have a record of improving MS&A tools, visualization frameworks, and data analysis workflows.
