We are looking for a System Verification Engineer I to join our SVT ETH team in Gdynia. This is an entry-level role – a great start for recent graduates, as well as for testers who would like to apply their experience to network hardware and systems. You will learn how carrier-grade routers and switches are verified before they go live in operators' networks.

With support from experienced engineers, you will build test setups in our lab, run tests, analyze results and report issues to development teams. Step by step, you will take ownership of your own test areas and grow into test automation.

SVT ETH is part of ADTRAN's System Verification organization. Our team of 8 engineers in Gdynia works closely with R&D, System Integration Test and Technical Support colleagues across Europe and the US. In our lab you get hands-on access to carrier-grade equipment from ADTRAN and other vendors, together with professional traffic generators and analyzers. New team members get an experienced colleague as a mentor and time to learn.

Technologies you'll learn and work with

Carrier Ethernet, Metro Ethernet, Access & Aggregation networks

Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing: IPv4/IPv6, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, BFD

Service-provider technologies: MPLS, IPVPN/L3VPN, EVPN, PTP/SyncE

Python and Robot Framework for test automation

Ixia/Keysight, Spirent and Viavi traffic generators and analyzers

Linux and Windows lab environments

Responsibilities

  • Learn our products, test processes and lab environment.
  • Build and configure test setups with ADTRAN and third-party routers, switches and traffic generators.
  • Execute functional, regression and end-to-end tests based on existing test plans.
  • Analyze test results and logs and report defects clearly in our bug tracking system.
  • Work with developers to reproduce defects and verify fixes.
  • Document test procedures, configurations and results in our test management system.
  • Gradually develop your own test cases and automated tests in Python and Robot Framework.

Requirements

  • Degree (or final year of studies) in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, Automation or a related technical field – or equivalent practical experience.
  • Basic understanding of computer networks: OSI model, Ethernet, IP addressing, TCP/UDP – from studies, courses or your own lab.
  • Basic Linux and command-line skills, or the willingness to pick them up quickly.
  • Analytical mindset and curiosity about how things work – and why they fail.
  • Good written and spoken English (at least B2).
  • Willingness to learn, attention to detail and a team-player attitude.
  • Hands-on networking practice from studies, internships, a home lab or courses (e.g. Cisco Networking Academy, CCNA).
  • Basic programming or scripting skills (Python, Bash or similar).
  • Experience in software testing/QA in any domain – e.g. writing test cases, reporting bugs, working with test management or bug tracking tools.
  • Familiarity with Wireshark or other network troubleshooting tools.
