Description

We are looking for an IT Proximity Engineer to join a leading international industrial organization operating in the manufacturing sector.

Based primarily on-site, this role provides Level 1 proximity support for end-user technologies and enhanced Level 1 & 2 hardware support for production, industrial and warehouse environments. The position requires regular travel between multiple company locations.

Working within the organization's IT support framework, the successful candidate will be responsible for on-site troubleshooting, equipment deployment and local technical interventions across office, production, warehouse and logistics environments.

More complex Level 2 end-user, infrastructure, server, network, application and security incidents will be escalated to the relevant infrastructure teams, central IT departments or approved third-party providers.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where operational continuity, end-user satisfaction and close collaboration with both business and IT stakeholders are key success factors.

Core Responsibilities

Proximity IT support across Goole and Northallerton, acting as the local intervention point when issues cannot be resolved remotely by the Service Desk.

Level 1 support for end-user devices, including PCs, laptops, mobile phones, printers and peripherals.

Enhanced Level 1 & 2 hardware diagnosis and support for industrial equipment, including touchscreens, vehicle-mounted tablets, label printers, RF and mobile scanners, scales and industrial workstations.

Resolve hardware, workstation, peripheral and local connectivity issues within the defined support scope, escalating specialist infrastructure, network, application or security issues as required.

First-line and client-device support for Microsoft 365, Teams telephony, SAP and other applications, with enhanced local support for SAP RF devices and associated warehouse hardware.

Configure, stage, install, deploy, replace and relocate approved IT equipment across office, production, warehouse and vehicle environments.

Support user lifecycle activities, including new-user setup & IT induction, moves/transfers and leavers, in line with Group procedures.

Perform basic physical connectivity checks, cable testing and approved patching, maintaining accurate port and connection documentation.

Complete defined equipment and environmental checks, escalating concerns relating to connectivity, capacity, temperature or power.

Maintain accurate asset, stock and CMDB records and manage local equipment, spares and consumables.

Act as a key local contact for urgent production, warehouse and industrial IT hardware incidents.

Record incidents, requests, actions and technical information accurately within the ITIL-based ServiceNow environment.

Support IT projects and deployments through local device rollouts and “hands and eyes” assistance for specialist technical teams and suppliers.

Follow security policies, technical standards, change procedures and site safety requirements.
