Description

The company builds software that helps organizations make data-driven decisions and run their operations. This role focuses on the Warp Speed program, which works to revitalize American manufacturing and the industrial base.

Forward deployed software engineers work directly with customers, from factory floors to executive offices, to identify their biggest problems and then design and build data-driven solutions. The role started as the original forward deployed engineering position at the company and involves embedding engineers with customers to solve urgent problems.

Work spans industries such as energy, food supply, and global logistics, and includes questions like forecasting wildfire risk for power grids or moving food aid on time. The team works in small, agile groups and has startup-level autonomy with the resources and stability of an established tech company.

Responsibilities

  • Work with fellow engineers on architecture and design decisions.
  • Handle very large datasets and use AI to speed up and improve critical operations.
  • Build custom applications for specific customer needs.
  • Talk directly with customer stakeholders, from technical staff to executives.
  • Own projects end to end, from ideation through deployment, and help set team direction, taking on high-stakes work to deliver real value.

Requirements

  • U.S. person.
  • Expected graduation in December 2026 or Spring 2027.
  • A strong engineering background; computer science, mathematics, software engineering, physics, or data science is preferred.
  • Proven coding skills in languages such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar.
  • Analytical mindset and enjoyment of solving technical problems using data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other tools.
  • Interest in working with large-scale data on real business problems.
  • Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical colleagues in a changing environment where goals and user feedback evolve.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% to client sites, as needed; flexibility is available based on personal preference.

Conditions

The estimated base salary is $135,000 to $145,000 per year. Total compensation may also include Restricted Stock Units, a sign-on bonus, and other future incentives, and is set by each person's qualifications, experience, skills, and other factors. The estimate excludes any sign-on bonus, the value of benefits, and the potential future value of long-term incentives.

Work is primarily from an office, with hybrid options (working from home one or two days a week) available on many teams. A few roles allow remote work on an exceptional basis, and those require working from the state of employment. Onsite roles require working from an office.

The company is an equal opportunity employer.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus voluntary life insurance, for employees and eligible dependents.
  • Basic life, AD&D, and disability insurance covered automatically.
  • Commuter benefits and relocation assistance.
  • Flexible paid time off with no accrual, plus 2 weeks of paid time off at year end (subject to team and business needs).
  • 10 paid holidays per year.
  • Leave of absence program covering military service and medical events.
  • Paid parental leave, subsidized back-up care for all parents, and a stipend for expenses related to a new child.
  • Fertility and family building support, including adoption, surrogacy, and preservation.
  • 401k plan enrollment.
