Description

The company builds reporting software that helps small businesses read their performance, check their figures and decide with confidence.

Your work will extend reporting so customers can mix business data in new ways, adjust views and follow any figure back to the transactions behind it.

You will own engineering work from design to production, weighing performance, accuracy and usability while protecting the reports and workflows customers already rely on.

You will partner with Product, Design and fellow engineers to turn detailed requirements into dependable software.

You will help grow the Vancouver team by sharing knowledge, giving useful feedback and communicating clearly, and you will be free to challenge current methods and try new ideas.

The Reporting team builds customer-facing experiences and shared platform features across the company's reporting. It helps customers understand performance and prepare financial statements, and lets product areas such as Payroll, Tax and Inventory build on common reporting foundations.

The platform runs more than 160 million reports each month, so the work sits where customer impact meets performance, financial correctness and scale.

Responsibilities

  • Build flexible reporting features that let customers combine business data, rearrange views, save setups and drill into underlying transactions.
  • Speed up the reporting engine so complex queries stay responsive as data volumes and customer needs grow.
  • Keep calculations correct and results current when transactions are corrected or source data changes.
  • Build shared reporting components, such as consistent calculations, permissions and performance patterns, that other product teams can use.
  • Make reported figures easier to inspect and trace to their source without disrupting existing reports, layouts and workflows.
  • Apply AI to engineering workflows and verification, and explore new ways for customers to ask financial questions and shape reports.
  • Take ownership of a customer-facing feature, a performance project or a shared platform component, from early investigation through to production.

Requirements

  • A solid software engineering background and a record of shipping and running reliable production systems.
  • Hands-on work with data-heavy systems, relational databases or complex queries, and a clear sense of how design decisions affect speed.
  • A commitment to data correctness, with the ability to write automated checks that build confidence in calculations and system behaviour.
  • Comfort with ambiguity: you can weigh trade-offs and ship useful improvements without overbuilding.
  • Ownership across the delivery lifecycle, from understanding customer needs and shaping an approach through testing, deployment and production support.
  • Clear reasoning, openness to challenge, and collaboration with Product, Design and engineering colleagues.
  • Interest in using AI tools in engineering work, with the judgement to check outputs and stay accountable for quality.
  • Prior experience in reporting, analytics or financial software would be valuable.

Conditions

Based in Vancouver on a hybrid basis: one to two days a week in the office for technical discussions and team alignment, working from home on the other days.

Expected base salary range is 131,800 - 150,000 CAD.

Individual pay within the range depends on geography, level of experience and the specific skills you bring.

  • Health, wellness and retirement programs.
