Description

The company is an international industrial group in the aerospace, defence and security sectors, with more than 60,000 employees, a strong industrial base in Italy, the United Kingdom, Poland and the United States, and operations in 150 countries through subsidiaries, joint ventures and equity stakes. It works as a technology and industrial partner to governments, defence bodies, institutions and businesses.

The helicopter division is hiring a junior subsystem engineer for its avionics systems development team. The work centres on display systems and human-machine interfaces (HMI), including safety-critical avionics software built with Model-Based Design (MBD), with a focus on graphics, pilot interaction and human factors.

You will work across the full subsystem lifecycle: system modelling, HMI design, graphical implementation, software integration, software requirements, verification and certification, meeting aerospace standards and usability needs.

The main focus is application software and its integration onto the platform, which includes hardware and low-level software.

Selection: the CVs that best fit the required qualifications are reviewed and shortlisted. Shortlisted candidates have an introductory interview with HR about motivation and aptitude, then an in-depth technical interview with the relevant business function. Every candidate receives feedback at the end, whether the outcome is positive or negative.

Responsibilities

  • Help design and build embedded software for avionics displays, such as PFD, MFD, touchscreen controls and helmet-mounted displays, using Model-Based Design.
  • Build touchscreen graphics and an HMI that reduces pilot workload during flight test operations.
  • Manage the software lifecycle against DO-178C, DO-331 and ARP4754A.
  • Integrate application software onto target systems.
  • Work with hardware, software and systems engineering colleagues.
  • Define software requirements.

Requirements

  • A degree in an engineering field such as computer science, electronics, electrical, telecommunications, automation, or aerospace/aeronautical engineering.
  • Proven experience with MATLAB Simulink and software development in C/C++.
  • Knowledge of real-time, safety-critical embedded software development.
  • Interest in human-machine interface work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Clear, structured technical communication.
  • A proactive approach and a drive to keep improving.
