Description

The company is a healthcare business working across Innovative Medicine and MedTech, with research and development that draws on patient insight.

This is a people leader role in the Research and Development Data, Data Science, and AI team, based in Neuroscience R&D.

You will set the direction for AI, generative AI, and agentic AI workflows that help scientists find, combine, and use research information across clinical, omics, molecular, and medical imaging data.

You will work with scientists and data teams to turn research priorities into scalable tools, such as AI co-scientists, that keep pace with scientific progress.

You will own the platform's build and evolution, scientific rigor, user adoption, and measurable value across the Neuroscience AI portfolio.

You will be a senior AI lead for Neuroscience R&D with real room to decide what gets built and why. You will inherit a production agentic platform covering runtime, orchestration, a registered corpus, a permission model, and an evaluation registry, and you will help decide its next steps.

Success at twelve months means neuroscientists are using the platform to work faster with high scientific accuracy, and leadership funds a Neuroscience AI plan that you built on evidence.

Responsibilities

  • Define the Neuroscience AI strategy, portfolio, roadmap, and how value is measured.
  • Build and deploy scalable agentic AI and generative AI solutions for priority scientific needs.
  • Own delivery, investment decisions, and results for the Neuroscience AI portfolio.
  • Make sure the science is rigorous, evidence is used appropriately, and domain data is represented reliably.
  • Set evaluation standards, arrange expert validation, and put responsible AI practices in place.
  • Shape shared platform capabilities and build reusable solutions that fit enterprise architecture.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and keep strong engineering and lifecycle practices.
  • Work with scientists and leaders to set priorities, validate solutions, and drive adoption.
  • Explain technical choices, risks, progress, and impact to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • PhD in computer science, computational biology, genetics, genomics, medical informatics, or a related quantitative field, or an MS with additional relevant experience.
  • 8+ years in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare analytics, including setting technical direction.
  • Within the last 18 months, hands-on experience building agentic systems and deploying AI, NLP, or generative AI solutions using LLMs, retrieval, grounding, and evaluation.
  • Ability to critically assess scientific evidence. Neuroscience expertise is optional.
  • Strong Python skills and sound software engineering practices.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary technical delivery and influencing across organizational boundaries.
  • Proven ability to set priorities, make tradeoffs based on evidence, and deliver measurable value.
  • Strong communication skills with technical, scientific, and senior non-technical audiences.
  • Experience developing within shared platforms, architecture standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Preferred: experience with genetics, multi-omics, imaging, ontologies, or scientific knowledge systems.
  • Preferred: exposure to regulated environments, AI governance, and human-in-the-loop systems.
  • Optional: industry experience in drug discovery, clinical development, or neuroscience.
  • Travel may be required as needed.
