Description

The closing date for applications is Friday 13 November 2026.

The role sits in the Chief Security Office, where the aim is to keep customers, colleagues and assets safe from threats. Data and AI are central to that work, and the Security Data & AI lab leads much of it.

You will help change how threats are detected, reduced and prevented, using machine learning and agentic systems across one of the UK's most data-rich environments.

The company offers reasonable workplace adjustments, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Work with data engineers, DevOps engineers and domain experts to build solutions for several areas of security.
  • Turn business problems raised by internal customers and stakeholders into data science solutions.
  • Put solutions into existing systems and processes through MLOps, and explain models so their outputs can be acted on.
  • Build your knowledge of security, a field that will matter more in the years ahead.
  • Build and maintain both traditional machine learning systems and agentic systems.
  • Help grow the wider team's data science understanding by running demonstrations and show and tells for audiences with different levels of prior knowledge.
  • Take part in team ceremonies: plan work, commit to achievable goals, help set priorities, raise blockers early and manage external dependencies.

Requirements

  • You have delivered data science or analytics projects from defining the problem through to implementation, and can show the measurable business impact.
  • You understand machine learning and the statistics beneath it well. Much of the work uses unsupervised models, so you can apply core principles to make design decisions.
  • You know foundation model systems and the frameworks and best practices for building agents.
  • You have used Python and common data science libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn and NumPy, plus visualisation frameworks.
  • You write strong SQL and have queried and transformed large datasets, ideally on platforms such as BigQuery, Snowflake or similar big data warehouses.
  • You can explain technical concepts and analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You have working knowledge of cloud platforms and infrastructure.
  • You solve problems well and take a structured approach to turning business challenges into data-driven solutions.
  • You are curious, look for new ways to improve things, and keep up with developments in the industry.
  • Skills are built in many ways, so if you have relevant, transferable experience, the company encourages you to apply even where the advert names specific years of experience.

Conditions

Full-time hours.

Salary of £48,987 to £54,430.

Hybrid working: you spend at least two days a week, about 40% of your time, at one of the office sites.

Flexible working options are supported, including job share.

The company guarantees interviews for applicants with a disability, long-term health condition or neurodivergent condition who meet the minimum criteria, under the Disability Confident Scheme, and gives reasonable adjustments throughout recruitment.

Benefits

  • A pension contribution of up to 15%.
  • An annual performance-related bonus.
  • Share schemes, including free shares.
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping.
  • 28 days of holiday plus bank holidays.
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies.
