Description

The data science team runs global projects for business stakeholders in sales, marketing and HR, helping them make better data-driven decisions.

The team builds and runs data products, applies statistical analysis to business problems and presents results across the wider organisation.

The role covers existing service lines and also looks for new data-driven ideas, methods, products and business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Run Data Science projects from initial scoping through to execution, quality checks and a clear presentation of results to stakeholders.
  • Work with IT colleagues to find ways to extend current initiatives to more users and more markets.
  • Propose new approaches that add value for stakeholders beyond the current service lines.
  • Direct external consultants so their Data Science projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and act on feedback.
  • Support the Data Science Manager with impact tracking, project and pipeline planning, planning cycle materials, internal training, onboarding new team members, and internal and external outreach.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar role.
  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
  • Experience with Snowflake is a plus.
  • Prior experience in an FMCG company in a data or analytics role is a plus.
  • Ability to prepare high-quality datasets so their key points and implications can be understood quickly.
  • Applied knowledge of statistics and probability, used to reduce uncertainty in business decisions, including regression and visualisation.
  • Practical technical skills beyond core Data Science, such as Git, API calls and web crawling.
  • Experience with version control such as Git is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data transformation tools such as dbt is a plus.
  • Exposure to lightweight application frameworks such as Streamlit or Shiny is a plus.
  • Ability to present coherent data stories pitched at the right level for the audience.
  • Skill in building mutually beneficial relationships with functional stakeholders.
  • Practical judgement that weighs costs and benefits in every decision.
  • Strong motivation to add value and to show that impact to the organisation.
  • Ability to frame new questions as well as answer the ones given.
  • Proven persistence in seeing work through to the end, even when early feedback is negative.
