Data & AI Engineer

Description

The role is based in Paris, France, on a hybrid schedule, within the Digital Commercial Accelerator team of an R&D-driven biopharma company that uses AI heavily.

The team applies data, AI and digital tools to make the company's commercial operations smarter and more efficient, and your work will feed into how treatments reach patients.

The posting is in English because the job involves regular work with international subsidiaries, where English is the working language.

The role is open to candidates of any gender.

Responsibilities

• Build data pipelines that turn raw data into useful insights, keeping them scalable and dependable in the cloud.
• Create and refine data models, focusing on query speed and efficient processing.
• Work with teams across functions to turn business needs into technical solutions.
• Run data quality checks and apply the company's governance standards.
• Maintain automated ingestion jobs and monitoring that tracks operational KPIs, and fix issues to keep pipelines healthy.
• Build and upkeep ETL processes and machine learning workflows that deliver clean, AI-ready data to applications.
• Share data engineering practices such as design patterns, CI/CD and containerized deployments, and review colleagues' code and technical documents.

Requirements

• Proven ability to build pipelines and warehouses in cloud settings.
• Strong background in data modelling, ETL/ELT and pipeline orchestration in production.
• Track record of converting business needs into engineering solutions alongside cross-functional colleagues.
• Substantial hands-on time with large language models.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with data warehouse platforms (Snowflake preferred).
• Hands-on work with ETL tools (IICS or equivalent), data transformation tools (dbt preferred) and Python for data processing.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), including orchestration frameworks (Airflow preferred).
• Knowledge of CI/CD (GitHub Actions preferred), Git, and infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred).
• Can apply standard engineering approaches and technical norms.
• Collaborative, good at problem solving, self-motivated and willing to take initiative in a quick-moving setting.
• Able to explain ideas to technical colleagues and business stakeholders alike.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (engineering or Master's preferred).
• English is mandatory.

Conditions

Hybrid work in Paris, France, with up to 2 days of remote work per week.
