Description

The company is a global technology and professional services firm with about 26,000 staff across more than 50 countries. It serves federal agencies, defense and the intelligence community in AI, cloud, cyber and software development.

This role sits in the data science and data engineering job family and is hybrid, with up to 3 days per week of telework.

You will add AI-enabled capabilities to an existing tool that a mission-critical customer relies on. The focus is on using existing large language models in real mission workflows, not training new models.

You will work alongside system and software engineers to build agentic solutions: coordinated AI agents and prompts that take over manual tasks, speed up authoring and reporting, and make intelligence operations more effective.

Responsibilities

  • Lead AI solutions from concept through deployment, including multi-agent workflows where coordinated agents and prompts produce outputs for reporting and dissemination.
  • Prototype, write production-quality code, and maintain AI capabilities once they are deployed.
  • Connect existing foundation models to the RAD architecture through APIs and orchestration frameworks, choosing the best model and approach for each task instead of building models from scratch.
  • Write, test, and refine prompts and agent instructions that reliably automate manual work, and break complex mission workflows into steps an agent pipeline can run.
  • Build testing, evaluation, and validation methods that check AI outputs for accuracy, consistency, and edge cases before analysts and reports see them.
  • Act as a key technical contact for system engineers, software developers, and domain experts. Explain recommended AI approaches and their tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Keep up with fast-moving developments in LLMs and agentic AI, including new models, orchestration frameworks, and tools, and find practical ways to apply them to the system.

Requirements

  • Strong Python skills, with a record of writing production-quality, maintainable code.
  • Hands-on experience building applications on existing LLMs, through commercial or self-hosted model APIs.
  • Experience designing multi-agent or multi-step AI workflows, including prompt chaining, tool use, and orchestration with tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom frameworks.
  • Strong prompt engineering skills and experience evaluating and validating LLM outputs.
  • Experience adding AI to existing software architectures, such as RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Desired: Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and vector databases.
  • Desired: Familiarity with LLM observability and evaluation tools.
  • Desired: Experience with exploratory data analysis on structured and unstructured data to prepare inputs for AI workflows.
  • Desired: Familiarity with MLOps or LLMOps practices for deploying and monitoring AI at scale.
  • Desired: Familiarity with government agency reporting and dissemination policies.
  • Agentic AI, AI agents, and AWS experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience, and a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.
  • The role also lists 8+ years of related experience.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI access and a polygraph.
  • US citizenship is required.

Conditions

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, USA. Full-time, 40 scheduled hours per week. No travel required.

Hybrid setup with up to 3 days per week of telework.

Pay is expected to fall between $165,750 and $224,250. This is an estimate, not a guarantee. Final pay depends on experience, location, and possibly contract terms, and may fall outside this range.

As part of hiring, you will complete an identity check that uses biometrics and AI. Virtual interviews require you to be on camera, and your photo may be taken for verification. By continuing, you agree to biometric data being collected and used for identity and security checks.

Equal opportunity employer, including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

Benefits

  • Medical plans, some with Health Savings Accounts, plus dental and vision plans.
  • 401(k) with pre-tax and post-tax contributions up to IRS limits and a company match.
  • Full flex work weeks where possible.
  • Paid time off including vacation, sick and personal time, holidays, paid parental, military, bereavement, and jury duty leave.
  • Short-term and long-term disability, life, accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, critical illness, and business travel accident insurance, provided or available.
  • An AI-powered career tool that suggests career steps and learning opportunities.
  • An internal mobility team that helps with career goals.
  • A military-friendly workplace.
