This role sits within the Provider Business Unit and contributes to Inovalon’s foundation platform, which powers the client-facing login experience, dashboard, and core application layer. The engineer will work in a Java and Spring Boot environment, building and maintaining microservices-based architecture with a focus on security, identity, and scalable cloud-native infrastructure on AWS.

  • Build and maintain cloud-native AWS infrastructure including ECS, Lambda, SNS, SQS, Secrets Manager, and CloudFormation; apply fault tolerance patterns such as circuit breakers to ensure platform reliability;
  • Design and implement API Gateway configurations and microservices patterns; contribute to scalable, secure, and maintainable service architecture;
  • Manage and resolve development and production support tickets; contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and related tooling;
  • Leverage Datadog and AI-assisted development tools as part of daily engineering workflow;
  • Raise the engineering bar through technical leadership, code reviews, and mentorship of team members;
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders across Inovalon to understand requirements and maintain a data-driven feedback loop;
  • Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other such policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined within Employer’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the scope of work;
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success;
  • On Call Policy: Participate in an on-call rotation (approximately one week per month) to support production-related issues, including outside standard business hours, ensuring timely response and resolution as per defined SLAs.
  • Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 8 years of software development experience with a strong foundation in Java and Spring Boot required;
  • Hands-on experience designing and building microservices-based architectures including API Gateway patterns and distributed system design;
  • Solid understanding of authentication and identity platforms; experience with SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, and RBAC required;

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows; Datadog experience a plus;
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools as part of day-to-day workflow;
  • Strong architectural and system design judgment with a track record of engineering excellence and high reliability;
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to mentor engineers and work effectively across teams.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology required;
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
