Position Overview

We’re hiring Software Developer Interns across multiple teams at Autodesk in Canada. Rather than recruiting for just one specific team, we’ll get to know your interests, experience, technical skills, and preferences throughout the hiring process. We’ll use these alongside our teams’ hiring needs to match successful candidates with opportunities where they can contribute, learn, and grow.

Depending on the team, you may work on areas such as cloud services, desktop or web applications, developer platforms and tools, data and distributed systems, AI-enabled experiences, or other technologies that power Autodesk products.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and delivery of software features, services, APIs, or developer tools
  • Collaborate with developers, product partners, and other team members to turn requirements into high-quality technical solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable code and develop automated tests to ensure product quality and reliability
  • Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues using debugging tools, logs, metrics, and other available data
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, code reviews, technical discussions, and retrospectives
  • Apply software engineering principles to improve the performance, reliability, scalability, security, and usability of our products
  • Proactively use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate learning, research, problem-solving, and execution, while applying sound judgment to validate outputs and ensure high-quality work
  • Communicate technical ideas, progress, and findings clearly with teammates and stakeholders
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field, with a graduation date no earlier than April 2027
  • Programming experience in one or more languages such as C++, C, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Go, or similar, through coursework, projects, research, hackathons, open-source contributions, or prior work experience
  • Understanding of core computer science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented or functional programming, and software design
  • Experience building, testing, or debugging software
  • Familiarity with version control tools such as Git
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies, systems, and product domains
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, APIs, microservices, distributed systems, databases, data pipelines, or event-driven architectures
  • Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
  • Interest in automated testing, continuous integration and deployment, monitoring, and software quality practices
  • Exposure to or interest in generative AI, large language models, AI agents, or AI-assisted software development
  • Interest in CAD, manufacturing, product design, engineering software, or developer platforms
  • About the Canada Internship Program
